hi all please can you advise me

Well. I prefer T5 lighting and metal halide lighting for reef tanks (corals and any photosynthetic creatures). If it is only fish or fish with live rock than any light will do. Anything around 10 gallons a good number of fish is 2. You can keep more, but then water parameters could swing...

    BUYING A NEW NANO TANK

Most of the all in ones have some modifications that make them better, but lighting is a pretty key element (as it's normally the most expensive). I have a nanocube 12 and if I didn't get it free I wouldn't have bought it due to the power compact lighting. I personally wouldn't get anything...

    rusty colored sand

Sounds like an algae bloom. I would get some sort of sand dwelling CUC. nassarius snails work well. I personally like the Tonga nassarisus snails (I think that is how they are labeled for sale) but some people don't like that big of a snail. One or two should be plenty.

My 9 Gallon Stealth Cube Build

Very nice shots. Did you ever get an ATO hooked up? How is the maintenance on this tank?

    Water check!

If you must use tap water then yes, add anti chlorine and let it aerate (put a power head and have the surface of the water agitated) for at least a day.

    rusty colored sand

Can you please post your water parameters and what type of water you top off with? Could be diatoms, algae, or some bacteria. Usually controlling your feedings, increase the flow across the sand, and maintaining you water changes will get rid of most of that.

PH and KH issues, question about top off water

Distilled is better than tap by far. For the raising of your parameters have someone test your MG, if it is low then your CA can be low too. PH could be due to tap water. Kalk is a good way of adding CA cheaply but ready up on it first. It actually help remove bad things in the water too. But...

    tank temp please

78-82 is generally fine. More consistent temperatures is generally a better idea than going for a specific number.

NOT nano, 200 gallon SW with stand

I appreciate it. Things came up on my end so I can't really take the finances to handle the tank yet either (getting vortechs on my 90g). But keep me in mind if you choose to try to sell again. That's a pretty darn good deal.

    Water check!

WEll the ammonia tells me you are having a spike in the cycle. BUT the SG goes up due to salt and water. Not much else really affects it too greatly. It is not normal for the SG to just jump. Are you topping off with fresh water? How are you measuring your SG? If you are using a swing arm...

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

Thanks I got word via email just as I let the Singapore suppliers know I may be interested in a bulk buy. LOL I am ordering two (one for back up to give me time to get another). I will post my DIY when I tackle modding my hood. Do you know a cheap place to get a new gasket and screws for the...

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

Ok. I haven't heard from this person yet either and I am frustrated. Just goes to show our expectation since the introduction of email to our lives. I just emailed them again, if I don't hear from this epicfish guy by this weekend I'm just going to buy directly from them in a lot of 10.

    Water check!

I would just clean that sponge at least weekly. It is up to you if you want to use it. I don't see a reason not to use it if you have it. My nano only has a sponge that I clean out.

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

I contacted [email protected] ( http://www.viclite.com ) and they referred me to their US supplier [email protected]. Just sent the email to epicfish this morning. Viclite.com has 365 US dollars for 10 bulbs. I don't mind fronting that money and then sending out the bulbs...but I do mind...

    Water check!

No stupid questions!! There are only bad questions (and the only bad questions are the ones not asked). NO2 you want zero. NO3 you want as close to zero as you can get it. Mine hovers around 2-5ppm for NO3 due to me over feeding. If you have any BIO material. Bio balls, bio...
