    air bubbles

When ever I add carbon I rinse the carbon i either RO/DI water or better yet old tank water (I change my carbon with every other water change on my 90g). The carbon fizzes up quite aggressively when it's first introduced.

 ouch..sorry to hear about that. The best thing I could come up is an infection of some type. Not positive though.

    Maroon Clown

Apparantly they are a bit aggressive to other clown fish and their own kind unless they are a pair. I have never had this fish, but now that I see it I just may get one! :)

    3 Gallon Pico Reef

:welcome to Nanotank! For 3 gallon tanks I would only get one fish personally And since that is an open tank make sure you don't get any fish known to "carpet surf" i.e. Firefish (or any dart fish for that matter), blue spot jawfish, ect. About 6 pounds of live rock would do nicely at...

    Water check!

Try to use a cleaner water is the best bet. But there is something called GFO (phosphate remover) it works ok, but some think that it may be a band aid fix.

I have not seen or dealt with this. Sorry. I'll try to find more info about it though.

    your opininions, please

I have it hooked to a ac to dc converter directly. I would recommend a fan controller though. It helps fine tune sound and heat control. I am just going to get an ACIII or RK elite to control my stuff though (next year).

    rusty colored sand

Light? Flow? neighboring corals irritating it? Something picking at it? Bad hair day? :cool1: By the wayy my bubble and hammer corals will somethings deflate and then iflate. It's normal for me to see this just when the lights go off, someone once said they are expelling waste but I...

    your opininions, please

If you go T5s the most important thing is that each bulb has an idividual reflector. That route for a 16" deep tank will be as good as if not better PAR readings than MH without the heat and energy costs. Here is a shot of the bulbs with individual reflectors.

    rusty colored sand

I use either charcoal or chemi pure every once in a while. Most of the time I use it when I'm being lazy and go two weeks between water changes. If your water is not clear then using it will clear the water nicely.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I see a lot of attention put into the proper wiring and placement of all the parts. We can't all buy everything we want, but you have done a fine job with what you have there! LOL I actually think I am going to go get some arrachera (sp?) meat and...

    Water check!

I have seen a pair of clowns and an anemone in a biocube 29. Not sure of the exact breed of clown fish but they seemed to do well. Didn't follow it long term so I don't know if the anemone faired well (they tend to not do well in nanos).

Beauty of a setup there! Yep. Would love to eat some carne asada, but traffic is horrible! :) Guess I will have to make m own.

    Tank opinions/suggestions needed.

Well most all in ones would benefit from a mod or two, but I like the price of mine - free. That being said shop around. Lots of used tanks for sale! If I had to do it all over again then I would try T5s (LOVE them on my 90 gallon) and put in a sump.

    rusty colored sand

I have a nano cube DX 12 gallon. It's been up for a couple months. A buddy gave me the tank free so I've been playing with a couple ideas and now have the parts to do the mods I want. I am adding in a 70w metal halide lamp, adding additional fans for cooling, adding a nanocustoms.com 3.1 fuge...

    SUMP DESIGN REFORMS (LONG POST)

There are good head pressure graphs on all powerhead boxes. Honestly you may do alright with a maxijet 1200. But you would probably need to supplement the flow in the display tank with a power head. And, yeah this is probably not an ideal post for beginners area.
