    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

Yeah its pretty nice. I found out that our city runs chloramines at least one a day week so it looks like I might need to add on a catalytic carbon stage. Sorry to hear about your camera. I use the panasonic fz8 and I love it. I think you can get it for around $250 now. There is an fz18...

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

I just tested the "freshwater" that I buy at my LFS which I thought was RO/DI or at least RO and it tested a TDS of 39ppm. That makes me wonder what kind of crap is in the water. I dont even see how it could be RO water (much less ro/di) with a TDS reading like that. Most RO units without DI...

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

LOL... will do Ed. How have you been? To be honest, that NG paly is one of those frags that I just sort of regret buying. It turned almost brown on me and is now coming back around. How is yours doing? BTW, the RO/Di unit is installed and working like a charm. Tap water has a TDS of...

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

LOL... not yet! They are doing well though! All three babies are about the size of a normal zoanthid polyp. Two of them, the twins, are real close to the mother polyp... they dont really have a stalk of their own yet. I'll take another picture to update. Also, my RO/Di unit came in today...

Ceramic Rings or just LR filtration???

The main problem with ceramic rings... and most other biological media excluding LR... is that it lacks the anaerobic region necessary for completing the nitrogen cycle. Without that anaerobic area, nitrates cannot be turned into nitrogen gas. So, you are left with a build-up of nitrates...

Why am I a snail murderer?

I really would not get so wrapped up in the exact pH and all of that. I can honestly say that I dont know exactly what my pH is. I use dipstick-style 5-in-1 test strips and I check just to make sure that everything is in the proper range... that is it. You arent trying to keep unforgiving SPS...

    Corals looking Sorry

I have to disagree about the 50% water changes. It is perfectly safe as long as you match temp, SG, and pH as closely as possible. I do weekly changes of anywhere from 3g-5g on a tank that is 12g with an actual water volume of around 9 gallons. I just match the temp and SG etc and the corals...

    NEED HELP LOWERING SPECIFIC GRAVITY

No problem. Glad to hear that it worked for you. I am a bit concerned though about a couple specimens, mainly the anemone and the sea slug. Make sure you research and learn as much as possible about those two. Jesse

    skimmer is it working?

Which protein skimmer is it? You said you have a 12g so I am assuming it is a Current USA Fission. If so, those things rarely work. If it is some other kind of skimmer, let me know and you should be able to play around with it and get it to work. The other thing to consider is often times...

Anybody using a refugium on there Aquapod 24?

I have seen a couple people who actually drilled their nanocube and plumbed just like you would any other tank. Did you plan on keeping the false wall filtration area? If not, you could go with something like the lifereef siphon overflow that tim linked to. I mean if you are going to have a...

    skimmer is it working?

To answer ann to the bone's question, what kind of skimmer are you talking about? I assume a surface skimmer?? If you are talking about a surface skimmer, you can tell if it is working by looking at the surface of the water. If there is no visible film, it is doing its job. If you are...

    Hawaiian sea apples

Flame scallops and stars are also a no-no in nano tanks. Maybe a small brittle star but they will outgrow a 9 gallon tank. Jesse
