    Lighting on my non nano

That is exactly the lighting i would run on that tank if it were mine except I would probably run ATI Blue Plus T5's. True actinics lamps would be cool though. Jesse

    HelifaxNZ's 7G Nano

That is a sweet setup. I love that tank. Nice work! The sand should be fine. Those koralias are pretty gentle. Jesse

    Aquapod Nano-Aquarium System 24 gallon 2-32watt bulbs

:welcome to nanotank.com! No anemones... the mushrooms and leathers and polyps will be fine though. I like my 12g aquapod. I blocked off the 2 lower vents and only left the surface overflow open. I think the 24g is a bit different though. Other than that, great tank. Jesse

So Im cycling with live rock...

It should be fine. As long as it smells like the ocean-gone-bad that it is good. The die-off is normal if it was out of the water that long. The key thing is to let it run it's course. Dont do any major water changes for a while. Some people suggest curing the rocks in a bucket or a bin out...

    Found a gorilla crab?

You might have to remove the rock and search him out. Does he have black tips on his claws? That is almost a sure sign of a bad crab. That and hair... hairy crabs are never good! Jesse

    WANTED SCRAPINGS OF CORALINE ALGAE

Have you tried to find some small cheap frags at your LFS that have coralline algae growing on them? Sort of a 2-for-1 deal, you know? :-) Jesse

    Skimmer

I would suggest leaving a piece of the sponge in the first chamber... maybe 2" thick. I would then put some filter floss on top of that. That is what I do. The sponge is really just there to hold the filter floss in place. I have about 1" of filter floss on top of a piece of sponge that is...

    Jesse's 12g AP w/70 watt Sunpod

Hey guys. Not much to report. Nowhere near as nice as Eddy's tank... I dont know if it every will be. His tank is really outstanding. I have been sort of battling what I believe is some sort of bacterial infection in my tank. Cris, I lost almost all of those Organism palys almost overnight...

Questions about cycling my new 12g eclipse...

I firmly believe in avoiding shortcuts when it comes to reef tanks. Nothing good happens quickly in a reef tank! (or something like that... I cant remember the exact quote!) Jesse

    Increased Flow

Never! Dont worry about it unless the corals appear distressed. Generally corals LOVE flow... the more the better. I have around 400gph+ in my 12g and I would have more if I had another place for a second koralia nano. Jesse

    okay im an idiot!

Watts per gallon is not a good rule. Honestly, to properly house acropora you are looking at 150 watt metal halide or more. The 70 watters just dont have enough output and PC's won't cut it either. T5HO's work but they are too long for a 10g tank. Dont forget about the high calcium demand...

Questions about cycling my new 12g eclipse...

:welcome to nanotank.com. I agree with everything said in the above posts. I do however have to say that the light in the Eclipse tank is in no way designed to support corals. It will not be enough for even the low light corals like mushrooms etc. You will want to upgrade the lighting...

    New live rock

Pic 1)Is the object in that first picture soft/flshy? It looks like it may be a carnation coral?? Pic 2)I agree with Tim that it looks like a feather duster?? Pic 3)Are the objects in photo 1 and 3 similar? Pic 4)No clue either. Jesse
