    Best way to reduce phosphate?

I forgot... as far as PO4 resins go, ROWAphos is probably your best choice... ROWAphos As you can see, the cost of a PO4 resin will add up over time and may make an ro/di unit seem a little more reasonable. Jesse

    Best way to reduce phosphate?

well, you are slowly adding phosphates to your tank. IMO one of the most important parts of a reef tank is using ro/di water... whether you are make it yourself with a home ro/di unit or you buy it from a reputable LFS, that is up to you. The problem with using a PO4 resin is that if there are...

    Nano Fanatic!

It is perfectly fine to put the rock right into the tank as long as there are no fish or shrimp etc yet. You will almost certainly have some sort of cycle, it just depends on how much die-off there is. you will just want a basic nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia test kit to monitor the cycle and...

    Need lighting help!

Also don't forget... I don't know how hot it gets in your house in the winter but you will probably want to add a CPU-type fan to your canopy to help with the extra heat from the lamps. Jesse

If you are able to run them separately on the one ballast then that would be perfect but can you? Jease

New 6G Nano Tank (first time)

Forgot about filter floss... Is a good idea to run a small piece of sponge with some filter floss... Just go to a craft store and buy a small bag of polyester fill. Make air to change it out once or twice a week though. Jesse

New 6G Nano Tank (first time)

Don't worry about the chemipure. Get a decent quality granulated activated carbon.... Not the pellets. Most of the chemipure.is just carbon anyways... Don't fall for the hype. Also, I wouldn't be too concerned about the phosphates and silicates either as long as you are using good water like...

    Need lighting help!

A 36 watt lamp will be too long. I dont think you bought the wrong ballast. I would suggest running 2x18 watters... Look for a lamp that is 10,000k and one that is blue or actinic. Jesse

New 6G Nano Tank (first time)

WOW thanks for the links. I would just tell them that you are looking to set up a nano reef tank and that tank just isnt going to cut it. Also PLEASE take everything that the LFS's tell you with a grain of sand. They will generally tell you whatever you want to hear to make $$$. You will...

    Hector's Goby?

Generally, grazers and sifters should be avoided in tanks that small. Also, make sure you have a very secure lid with the firefish... they WILL try to jump. A third thing, I would suggest either the two clowns or one clown and one other fish. You really want to avoid overstocking your tank...

New 6G Nano Tank (first time)

Yeah cruising the internet I am noticing the lack of choices for you. Have you seen the Orca tanks? It appears that they may be one of your better choices. Do you have any links to any of the major Aus retail websites for aquatic stuff? Jesse

New 6G Nano Tank (first time)

Unfortunately you cannot just put in a higher wattage lamp. The ballast must match the lamp. I guess you could get a light fixture with legs and run the tank topless. As for the filter, it is more like a trickle filter that is designed mostly for freshwater tanks and maybe fish-only tanks...

New 6G Nano Tank (first time)

:welcome to the site nada! Saltwaternewb covered your questions well already. A 25 watt heater would be fine and I would suggest the koralia nano powerhead as it has a very gentle flow. Here is my suggestion though. Return this tank if it is possible. I say that for a few reasons...
