    HELP SETTING UP 20GAL LONG

in my opinion, a small HOB filter such as the AC110 would be more beneficial on a 20L if it were used to run a good quality granular activated carbon and some filter floss. Again, just IMO.

can you use this type of light?

The light that you posted would look very unappealing on a reef tank... far too yellow. Event he 6500k replacement lamps would look very yellow. Is this for the 20L? Look into a couple of 65 watt power compacts. That should be enough to house the basic low to medium light "beginner"...

    JBJ Nanocube DX

Nice! Free is always in everyones budget! As far as the ATO goes, I think you'll have to drill a smal hole. I think Edgray has his JBJ ATO set up to where he just has a hole cut out in the back of the lid where the cord from the water level sensor and the tube for the water resevoir thingy...

    Sunpod Q's

A !5g is 24" long right? So if have a single 150 watter on that then the ends will be pretty shaded and should help with acclimation... Start by placing the corals and the ends of the tank and move them slowly towards where you want them.

Do the blue lights stay on all night?

Are you referring the LED moonlights? If so, you can leave them on all night or turn them off a few hours after the lights go off... it's up to you. Maybe set them up with a timer. I have mine come on a few hours before the main light and turn off a few hours after the main light. Jesse

    Slick Fancy Tank

Yeah I've seen them at a few fish stores and they are pretty sweet. The top off device is pretty cheesy and only holds a few cups of water. The skimmer seems to work okay. The disco ball metal halide looks kinds weird to me. I would opt for the 250 watt Sunpod... they rock! The tank and...

    new tank, glass thickness?

If it is sold by a company like that then it should be fine. I was under the impression that you were building this yourself. Jesse

    crab/button question

No problem! How long has your tank been up and running? If it is young I would wait it out and see if the algae goes away on its own. If it is established, how old are your lamps? I assume you are running power compact lighting? Sometimes a shift in the spectrum of the lamps due to age...

    crab/button question

:welcome to nanotank.com! What kind of algae are you trying to battle? Hair algae, bubble algae, etc. You also may want to look into the source of the algae. Often this can be phosphates. Phosphates (PO4) can be tested for using simple test kits available at any local fish store...

sunpod 150 watt MH on a Biocube 29

Thats not overkill at all. You will, however, want to acclimate new additions to the lighting by starting them out low and slowly moving them up towards their permanent home over a couple of weeks. Jesse
