ok well my supplier is slacking big time... im beginning to lose faith in this guy. Since augest i have been waiting for my light for my 72 gallon. As well as he didnt show up when i was suppsoed to pick up live stock from him...

SO instead i went and got a pair of pajama cardinals from a fellow reefer for a wonderfull $20. This coming friday i am getting a bag full of cheato as well as a stalk of zenia for $15-$20. Im tired of waiting and letting the tank use the electricity if theres not going to be anything in it.

So heres a pic of the cardinals....

by the way how often are the hermits supposed to molt? almost everyday im finding old skeltons. No their not dead.. theres no empty shells lol

You can stick a toothpick through it near the base somewhere and "pin" it down. You can also rubberband it to a rock or shell too... it will quickly (within a week or so) attach itself to ANYTHING as long as you keep it still.

HTH,

Jesse

BTW... this stuff is VERY resilient!

ok i tooth picked it.. im guessing tho that i have to keep it in my lower area for now as it adjusts to my lighting

YEah it's best to start it out down low then... but you can probably move it up to where you want it within a couple days... just keep in mind though that you are going to want to keep this stuff from spreading too much. YOu wuold be best off getting a small pice of LR... like a couple inches square and attaching it to that. Then as it grows toward the edges, cut off the pieces with nice sharp scissors or new razor blade before they can spread... outside of the tank of course. If you dont keep this stuff in check, you may regret it later!

hahaha alright .. it looks simple enough to frag and at least i can have something to trade i guess. Exactly how fast does it grow?

Umm pretty quick! Exactly? I have seen a nice-sized piece attach itself to the glass and split down the middle creating a whole new frag in a 7-10 day period. Then it "walks" itself up the glass and in a matter of 4-6 weeks can make it up to the trim of a 12" tall tank! It leaves little "turds" in it's wake that turn into even MORE xenia!

It is really cool stuff!

Cool! I like the 70 bows...

Here is an example of the xenia growing up the glass...

See the tiny little boogers it leaves behind? See if you can spot the TINY booger about a couple inches up from the sand on the left-hand side... it only has about 3 polyps!
