Hmmm... Yes, I'll have two of the orange rics please. Man, those are dirty cheap!!! I have a hard working cleaner shrimp that I recommend. He makes my gold coral banded shrimp look like a couch potatoe. I have no experience with peppermint shrimps but I've read that they eat aiptasia so they might be useful in your tank.

Thanks everyone... Well i think i got rid of the apistas. I havent seen any tenticles, but then again i havent flipped over the rock to check out either.

And on other notes Im still really having a problem with green hair algae. Yet i get 0 for nitrates and phosphates. I have chemi pure and cheato.. shoudl i try phosban as well? Lighting is less then 10 hours a day.

Clean up is

4 astrea snails
11 blue leg hermits.

i can also get camel shrimp for 7 bucks each what should i get? camel, cleaner, or peppermint?

on a more comical note.. i fed my riccordias mysis shrimp today. One of the 2 headed riccs was fighting with its self. You see the 2 mouth are almost right beside each other and they were both eating the shrimp. i wonder which will win the fight haha

i would say your algae problem is mostly due to the age of this system. often times the rock itself will feed algae growth for months and no test kit (they don't read PO4 well nor do they read nutrients in the rock itself) or amount of water changes will be a quick fix.
one solution is this: once a week you'll have to change about a half a 5 gal pail of water. in the used water take each piece of rock out and scrub it off with a brush, swish it off and replace it to the tank. you'll have to do this for at least a month maybe two. inbetween scrubbings let the algae grow on the rock but with a razor keep the glass clean (say every other day or so) and be sure to rinse the sponge and carbon bag an hour or so after scraping the glass. keep the back chambers clean and empty except for a sponge and a bag of carbon - ie make sure there is no detritus collection under your chaeto(you could even swish it out in the bucket)

thank you very much. I cleaned and removed a bit yesterday. what iv been doing is brushing it off in the tank and letting it get stuck to the intake grille. then simply pick it off. Im going to give it a shot tho.. thanks

Is there a way to cook the rocks (and what does this entail, I only have a rough idea) or something so they wouldn't feed an algae bloom? Hope this isn't seen as a highjack, thought it would be appropriate.

here is marine depots version of curing - good info but to it i would add:
1 month min 2 is better
use 2 pails and move the rock back and forth with each 100% water change
and NO light!
it is important that the process be bacterial driven not algae
and scrub rock, rinse, and inspect once a week to get rid of the nasty shrimp, crabs, aptasia and other pests you may not want. thats why 2 buckets :)

you will lose some biodiversity - but avoid many problems

Ok well i added 2 peppermint shrimps today. Pretty cool little things. The body alone is about 1 1/2" .... not to bad.

By the way im liking that skimmer from sapphire aquatics. Just have no idea what the water level should be for that one.

When my fish had ich, i tried not to stress them out.
I made sure they were eating and added some garlic supplements.
Make sure he isnt doing too bad, if he is, then i would QT and do a hypo treatment on the poor guy.

Good luck, ich is hard....
