    mh question

Yes and no. There's lots of info on RC and nano-reef, about people using shop-type mh balast and housings over aquariums. It CAN be done, but it requires a certain amount of research. You have to make sure you're getting the right wattage ballast, and you have to make sure that the fixture...

    Green colt? Leather?

I really haven't tried fragging anything much yet. I'd expect it would be about the same as other leathers though. B

    Pics of the New Tank

From the pics it doesn't look like anything, just the shape of the rock itself. Some types of rock have that shape vs ones that are more flat, or branching. B

    bubble coral

Where do you have it in the tank? What are your lights like? It may simply be getting much more light in your tank than in the LFS, perhaps moving it to a shadier area. They also do not do well in high-flow areas. The bubbles are easily torn if the current is too high. Is this a pearl...

    Tank support

Even with a small tank it's best to get it level if possible. Prolonged uneven pressure on the silicone seams, even in a small tank can cause them to fail. It's easy to shim up a 7g tank since the weight is prettly slight. B

    New to Coral Question

Something could have spawned. Coral, and clam spawns can be problematic in an aquarium. Especially if one coral or clam spawning triggers the others to do so as well. The gametes use a lot of O2, and can deplete it, once they start to die off, it's a huge spike in your ammonia-nitrogen cycle...

    xenia

I've never had much luck with xenia. It's strange how it seems to do well in some people's tanks, but not others, even when they're both experienced reef keepers, with similar setups, and great water quality. B

    Some new images.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The funny thing is the more I learn about it the less happy I am with my shots. But that's what practice is for right? B

    Information Site

I wouldn't order anything from them. They sort of shot their credibility with a large portion of the reef community when their customer service, and goods weren't up to the standards of some of their info. B

    Some new images.

All damsels either start off agressive, or get agressive as they get larger. I specifically bought this one because velvet damsels are known to eat flatworms...This one didn't of course. I'm going to borrow a trap and pull it out of the tank before much longer. Same thing goes for my six-line...

    new to nano

What kind of lights and filtration? A tomato and false perc may not work in that small of a tank. Tomatos, and maroons are the most agressive clowns, so you might either want to go with two tomatos, or ocellaris that you introduce at the same time. Having one bigger than the other will make...

    What is this?

Here's a site with some good pics of majano anemones. If it looks like this, kill it. If it doesn't, just try looking at sites that sell corals, if it's a zoo, or paly you'll come across it. B http://www.melevsreef.com/pics/bta/not/majano.html

    What is this?

Hmmm...Could be a zoo. Or it could be some type of anemone. If the pic were clearer it would make it a bit easier to ID. I'd look up aiptasia, and majano anemones. If it looks like either I'd kill it, otherwise I'd leave it alone and try to get some clearer pics of it. B

    Pics of the New Tank

It looks good. The only suggestion I'd make, is that you might want to break up that large piece of rock into several smaller pieces with a hammer/chisel. It'll make it easier for aquascaping purposes as you add corals. Everything looks good though. B

    how much LR is enough?

Most of what I read suggested 1-3lbs of liverock per gallon of water. Keep in mind that most corals will come attached to some liverock, so 8lbs in a 6.5g should be fine, because you'll be adding some as you add corals. B

    Some new images.

I didn't buy it. It was given to me by a reefer that was moving. I bought a lot of his liverock, and a couple other corals, and he gave it to me. I mentioned to him that I'd heard they were nearly impossible to keep alive, and that I'd tried an alveopora and it hadn't made it. He said that...

Pic of the week --- Surprise shots

This would have been a GREAT shrimp shot, except the shrimp really isn't quite in focus. It's also blending into the background a bit for my taste. I may have to look at sharpening up the original a bit and see if I can get him to stand out a little bit. B

Pic of the week --- Surprise shots

Have you shot a pic of one thing, only to find other stuff in the shot that you weren't looking at? How about critters moving into the frame at the last second, and making the pic. Post your surprise shots. As usual try to keep the images under 600x450 so dialup folks can enjoy them too. B...
