What kind of 75w light? PC's don't come in 75W. Neither do VHO, MH, or T-5. Those are the types of lighting that's good for maintaining a reef tank. There are 75w PC shop lights that folks use for their fuges to good effect for macro growth, but they're the wrong spectrum for corals...

Cool. Hopefully I'll be able to get some more pics of him. Most of the lions, anglers, scorpions, don't seem to be very active. B

    nano tank filtration

A lot of folks running nanos don't bother with skimmers. This is very doable with a nano, because by it's nature they should be very lightly stocked, and weekly or bi-weekly water changes of 10%-20% should be done. Most people with larger tanks simply can't keep up with that kind of water...

    pictures of my tank

I think you're right in that it needs more rock, but not because it looks barren, but simply because LR is a large part of a tanks filtration/nitrogen process. Everything looks good though, and it's always nice to see how a tank progresses/matures. You're off to a good start. B

I'm sure you could make it work but why would you want to? You can buy a 10g tank for a heck of a lot less. If you've just got one laying around unused, then go for it. People have made nano's out of lots of things. One of my favorites is the brandy snifter pico. B

    nano tank filtration

False. The only thing that a skimmer pulls out that's good is phytoplankton. If you're doing a reef that's heavy on fine filter feeders like young clams then you should turn it off for a couple hours after dosing the tank with phyto. B

It's your tank. Your welcome to play russian roulette with it if you want. It's pretty well accepted that RO/DI water is necessary to keep a reef tank long term. No reason to believe me. Check all the major forums/websites on the subject. And I agree. You've been very lucky. One of the...

Jennie, You have any plans to come up to Houston any time soon? I might take the minis if you're coming into town. If not maybe just one of them. B

You don't 'cook' your LR when you cook it. See this thread. B http://nanotank.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1270

How often are you feeding the phyto and krill? Do you have something in the tank that requires the phyto? B

 300w over a 6g? Wow. Are you trying to make this an SPS tank? What were you running before this? Did the algae problem start after you put the new bubs on? Have you tested for phosphates, and silicates? I forgot to ask how much, and what you feed? B

drty811, You shouldn't need to use dechlorinator if you're using the proper water, (RO/DI), to begin with. Leaffish, where do you get your water? If you've got your own RO/DI, when was the last time you changed the filters out? What type of lights, are they new? How long is your...

    Mandarins

I wouldn't go so far as to say they need 80g. I had a pair in a 55. However they're still not recommended for nanos because of their specialized diets. IF you can find one that eats prepared/frozen foods then they're pretty much perfect for nanos, but to find one that'll do that is still very...

    Need critique of nano design

You might consider using a larger return pump and a T to get two return holes. It'd be less likely you'd end up wanting to put a PH in there later. B
