I don't really think that 36w is enough for anemones, clams, or SPS, no matter how small a tank you have it over. LPS, Softies, polyps, sure. I've got all those in my 6g with 32w of light.

The surface looks normal for a tank that doesn't have a surface skimmer of some sort.
If you do the cassette-tape case mod, it'll clear it up. Do a search on RC for it, it's the simplest mod I've seen yet.
I don't know what to tell you about your pump and GPH. It's probably pretty close...
Hard to tell without a pic....As long as they're healthy and eating it doesn't really matter. Either this is their normal color, or they'll gradually regain their color in the white areas.
FWIW I've seen plenty of BTAs lately both RBTA and GBTA that had color morphs that had a lot of white...
Everything I've read, or heard suggests that they're like harlequins and will only eat tube feet of starfish or urchins, and I don't always agree with liveaquarias info. They suggest aquariums as small as 30g for mandarins as an example of information that is generally considered to be...
I'd say go with a 2.5g pico if you can't make/find something of a similar size out of acrylic. No filtration, just weely water changes. Cheap 13w clip on light should do the trick.

Your plan sounds fine. Of course adding critters is based on water chemistry, not time, so as long as your tests are good at the 3-4 week mark you should be fine with adding some inverts.
How much life is on the rocks really depends on where it comes from, how long the shipping takes, and...
No matter what type of camera you buy, a tripod is going to help, or at least most people find that they need to use them. I actually only use mine about 1/4 of the time. I've found that I have steadier hands than most, and I'm also good at bracing myself into weird positions using the tank...
No. Zoom is for telephoto puposes. Think standing on your porch and shooting a squirrel in a neighbors tree. Macro is what you need for pods. Small close-up objects are all macro shots. I'm assuming you're talking about this camera.

Yep...But t-5s are more efficient than PC's and have a slightly better par value, so they're somewhat comparable in a very loose fashion. Really it's comparing apples to oranges though.

Ok..I don't know if you tried to attach pics to this post or not, but the formatting on it is way off. If it's brown stringy stuff it's probably just excrement. If it's tons of small bubble like stuff, then it's more likely spawning.

Yep..I really like these guys. They're almost seasonal here. They aren't available for long stretches then suddenly you find the yellow stripe ones everywhere and then a bit later you get the blue stripe ones everywhere, then they're gone again for months.
