Yep nice and steady. I have two 5 gallon (food safe water containers) that will be for pre-made water. Just make sure to aerate it again and get it warmed up.

I love the setup! Can't answer your questions as I no nothing of SPS. But I have an idea for your "sump" setup. How about the water coming from your tank split into a T and have one section go over a RDSB bucket and the other into a skimmer but and have both of those drain into a single 20g...
Does it have red hair like stuff coming out of it? If it does it's probably a flame scallop, either way I would treat it like any other bivalve and target feed it micro plankton once in awhile. HTH.

Well LOL I have to wait for my house to be built before I can take part in any contest. I have all the pieces for my tank...just no livestock and it still has to be put together. But! I close on my house on the 13th :cool1:

Use LR rubble instead. JMO. Bio balls are indeed Nitrate bombs. Nice looking sump. I will be building a sump out of a 10g in a couple of weeks myself. I will be using a RIO1300 for my return pump. With 3 foot of vertical pvc and one 90degree turn I should be about 230 GPH. I will have a T...
I've seen people using a 150w MH for their tank but they had it almost 2 or 3 feet above the tank...seemed like a lot of overkill. I think the 70 should be just fine.

Yeah the little white dots are the live creatures that show a healthy tank. Simply a piece of the ocean in your own home  Glad to see everything is coming together nicely. Have you thoght anymore on what you want to put in your tank?

I vote for the 3x36 only because if you want fish they may jumpers and need some kind of hood. But not sure what kind of coral you want to have. I pretty sure you won't have clams in that lighting but you should be able to have LPS and maybe a piece or two of SPS up high (check with others...
A couple of hermits wouldn't hurt but shouldn't you have a couple of Nassirius (ok I can't spell) snails to stir up the substrate. I would test the water to see what is out of whack. Not sure but maybe there is too much food left over after feedings? Also flow might be a problem.

For us mere mortals that don't have a LFS 250 feet away from us :angnot: I really think that a refractometer is a better investment than a hydrometer.

How new a tank is it? Sounds odd to have fish in the tank with no cleaning crew? I'm guessing take out the fish, bump up cleaning crew, reduce light, and maybe the phosphate sponge. JMO.
