Well if you like the construction of the stand then go for it. I'm a bit of DIYer so I build my own stands (1"x3" interiors with 1/4" or 1/2" plywood exteriors with molding to dress them up). Tim

A 35 gallon tank and stand for $250.00? Hmm I wouldn't pay that, but then again I usually buy used tanks from yard sales and such. I just saw a 35 gallon for 70.00 USD not long ago, sounds kinda wrong to me, but I may just be in a cheaper cost of living... Tim

~*~ HeLp Me Out PLz! ~*~

I thought when your nitrites, nitrates, and amonia settled on 0's you could slowly add cleaning crew then wait about a week or so and then slowly add fish/coral (one a week I think). If I'm wrong someone tell me :-) Tim

    Crazy lighting question, MH

So long as the connectors work for the bulb and are rated for the amount of energy going through them it should work wonderfully. I would honestly call the maker of the shop light and ask how much can the pieces handle. If you do this let us know how it turns out. Tim

    Pirate's Reef

Nah you're not nuts, just resourceful. I love the 20g turned water resevoir idea, just might "borrow" it myself :langle Setup looks great, I just love it when a plan comes together and you see all the pieces coming together. Tim

    Marine Fish Clipart

Maybe you could save a copy of a couple of the tank shots here on this forum and take them to WalMart and have them printed out and use those instead of clipart. Ummm I dunno on a title, "It came from Nemo" maybe? Good luck! Tim

    fission skimmer for nanos?

I bought one and returned as soon as I saw the construction. Guess I'm a bit of a snob. Oh well. If I remember correctly though it had a place to put a drain tube so you could have it drain into a plastic bottle. I'd rather fork over the extra and get the better skimmer. Or better yet I...

If you had a large refugium that produced obscene amounts of pods you might be able to get a mandarin, but I would vote against it regardless of refuge size. Tim

Yeah no drilling with the HOB overflow. And the return could be done using flexible tubing (Make sure it is rated to handle the output of the pump you choose, not sure where you are at but your local hardware store can help you with that) and some 90 degree pieces to make a HOB return so you...

    DIY OVERFLOW QUESTION>>>YES OR NO<<<

I agree, this is a bad idea IMO. Even if the two pumps never fail then you have the problem of trying to match your intake output exactly...which is nigh impossible. For a trick I recommend go get two same pumps, put them in two almost full 5 gallon buckets, then put the pumps in the buckets...

    filtration

If you have live rock and a sand substrate (It will eventually become live from the rock, just give it time) then you would be better off getting rid of the bio balls and ceramic, just don't take them all out at once IMO. Take out a third or so every week and then add in live rock rubble...
