Ok I'm doing a 10g with a 10g sump and want an Indo-Pacific reef tank with a max of two fish, one that swims more towards the top and one that stays on the bottom. I have been reading online and reading books and now have TOO much info and am having trouble sifting through it all. HELP...

Yeah it seems you have a fish that won't in your tank. I had to cross off a couple of fish that I want because of size :roll: . It sucks but if you really want the fish to live long and healthy then you should return that one and look for fish that are more suited to nano tanks. Here is one...

So let me try to see if I understand both of you. Vafik you're saying that the LR and LS with a clean up crew is a less efficient bio filter and maybe for a reef tank it would be better to run bio balls etc? Skipm you're saying that the point of the LR and LS is to mimic natrual conditions...

You will get different readings at different times. Check at the same time with the same conditions if you want to track something. Otherwise just make a note of what time and if lights were on or off. Tim

I guess, but if you had any ... ANY... metals or minerals in the water they would stick around and actually become more concentrated. If price is an issue go to Walmart and buy distilled water, Saidie uses that with success I believe. Tim

Well need might be a strong word for it but the RO/DI is the best, RO second best, then I guess distilled, then maybe tap water. So It's really up to how much you wanna put into it. With RO/DI you won't have to worry about any water imperections at all. I would buy the 99 buck RO/DI unit...

Ok since alot of people seem to think this light is ok for this tank, I had orignally planned on using the legs it comeswith to have the light about3-4 inches off the top of the tank, but after talking to the LFS I was thinking of hanging it like a pendant about 10 inches off the top...

Thanks for the votes of approval, It just seems that the LFS guys don't know much about nanos. They said most everything would die if I put any coral under that much light. I guess I will have to acclimate my corals to the stronger light but that should go without saying. Well thanks again...

I actually just got mine in today. I seem to have a bad actinic bulb however. Dr. Fosters and Smith is sending me a new one free of charge. Just to be sure, both parts of the actinic bulb should be visible when powered on right? Tim
