Trickle down filtration and bioballs = Nitrate???

I like the idea of having carbon (chemipure) put there. You don't have to fill it completely. I would leave a little space so that I could add in different media as required (maybe even a sponge or some floss, can't remember what physical filtration you proposed for your new tank.

Stunning Mike absolutely stunning. Any plans on what's going in it?

    Upgrade for My 6g Nano?

I don't know if it will fit, but more light is always a good thing (within reason and this appears to be.) If you think you can cram three bulbs the size you have now. Go for it, but remember heat may be an issue when they are all on...then you will have evaporation, so you may need an ATO...

    Light question

Constant temperature is more important that a single number IMO. So if you can keep the temp within a single degree your fish/corals should adjust. Try to see if you can keep it at 81 constantly. JMHO.

April Photo Contest - Vote for the winner

Hmm if a problem with voting occurs then maybe the next step would be to have a requirement of posts to vote as well. I'd love to participate in a contest and maybe even donate a couple bucks. (need to have tank set up first  )

    Pirate's Reef

Man, that is a great looking setup. I love how all the things to keep a reef healthy commonly are larger than the reef itself (at least at this forum  ). In the last picture, is the glass "box" to the left of your skimmer your DSB?

Nitrates are still up..what can I do?

I have drilled an old AGA 10 gallon with no problems (dremel with diamond tip glass cutting bits), just go slow, use cool water running over the glass constantly, and keep about 2 inches away from the edges of the glass (for integrities sake). Oh yeah wear eye protection. Down side, you'll...

72 Oceanic Reef Ready Bow Front Evolution...

YAY :clapping: :banadance: :award: :jugg: :bash1: Glad to hear everyone (except the poor goby RIP) made it free and clear. Thanks to you I'll probably buy a small UV unit to have for just in case.

    Sump for nanocube 12

I would suggest using a bulkhead instead of an overflow. With the acrylic it can be "drilled" with a dremel or a router quite nicely. Depending on how far away and how much flow you want is how big a return pump you want. A maxijet1200 can take the water straight up 3 feet with no problem...

    Egg crate

Ok stupid question. Egg crate. Where in the world do I buy just a small section (online vendors sell by the carton, at least the ones I've found). I've heard home depot but couldn't find it. Is it called something else to the non-fish world? :turnip

Nitrates are still up..what can I do?

This is a perfect excuse for a new stand :???:

Would like some input on my sump plan please.

Well thank you. I will simplify that plan by removing the first set of baffles and placing eggcrate so I can run media. I have a float switch ATO with a back up float switch so I'm not too worried about the size of the return area (I'll probably change my tune when a problem arises though :D...
