Advanced Aquatics near roselle. It's actually on roselle road, go south from schaumburg road on roselle and it's on the left by the taco bell. Pretty nice store. Then there is Beyond the Reef. It's up on Golf (58) and I think it's also on roselle. Hope that helps!

    Drilling glass

Menards has a set for very cheap too. Just make sure to have water flowing over whereyou are cutting and go slow, let the bit do the work.

    BLACK SAND

The only down side to dark sand I hear is that it shows debris much more clearly. Melev's site has some pictures of his little seahorse tank if you want to see what one looks like. I'm guessing a power head near the sand can help keep detris in the water column and off the sand, but it's just...

How much can a normal electrical outlet take?

Here is a way to see what is on one circuit. Turn off the circuit breaker to your living room and see which outlets don't work anymore. A good way to test this is to just put a lamp or other device you can quickly note as being on in each outlet in a room and then turn them all on, flip...

How much can a normal electrical outlet take?

Trogdor has it. It's not really how many things you have plugged in, but WHAT you have plugged in. If you use cheap powerstrips then they may melt and/or short circuit. Each device pulls amps, keep em low. If you want more juice drop the hundred or two it will cost to have a liscened...

    Nc 12 Dx Start date 17/ 08/06 - First SW :D

Is there a way to cook the rocks (and what does this entail, I only have a rough idea) or something so they wouldn't feed an algae bloom? Hope this isn't seen as a highjack, thought it would be appropriate.

How often are you supplementing the clams?

    got my new aquapod 12g

3 Gallons seems fine, you could do 5 gallons at a time too. Home Depot has 5 gallon buckets cheap and it makes it really easy to premix the water and store the buckets for your next water change. Just make sure to mix the prepared water with a powerhead and match your tank temp before using it...

Nice to hear the T5s can support clams. I just might get me some of those lights. Where did you buy your fixture?

Or you could get a wave maker/timer setup and have all the pumps come on randomly so that only 2 or three are ever on at once... just an idea.

Freshwater rocks in a SW tank?

Well it really depends what the fresh water rock is. It may not be a problem but it could leak trace elements throwing things out of whack. PVC is a good filler as it is inert and will not throw any levels off. HTH.
