    skimmer time

They are bivalve and feed from the water column. If I skimmed every organic out of the water column the clam wouldn't be eating as well as it could, my plan is to not have to spot feed them. Just fyi I will the derasa and squamosa clams both of which are not the highest light requiring clams...

    skimmer time

Depends on your tank. Mine is running all day except for feedings. But when I get my clams I will start to back down on the skimming.

How long before turning on Protein Skimmer

Well I'm stumped  . Sorry but I don't think that the burping is an issue. Hopefully someone that has that brand of tank can chime in.

    Sunpod Q's

Your plan to acclimate sounds ok to me. Our tank inhabitants can actually acclimate to a wide variety of parameters. Just go slow and you should be fine. Maybe just have them down low and slowly move them up after all the screens are gone.

How long before turning on Protein Skimmer

Most pumps and plumbing require a day or two to build up a certain amount of "slime" to get rid of micro-bubbles and just generally break in. I don't have any experience with your tank but I would just wait it out a day or two and just let em run.

help with an aqua medic Nano Wave 9

If you are willing to spend some money I have heard (and seen) great things with the newer LED technology. It is expensive though. http://www.solarisled.com/Products/tabid/56/Default.aspx

    5 Gallon Starter?

I live about 30 mile west of Chicago and to compensate for the drop in temperatures I just have a multiple heaters to compensate for the drop in air temperature. But honestly if you house is at 70 degrees then your tank won't drop too far below that if at all. For the spray paint a lot of...

    Pairing Clowns?

I bought two clowns from liveaquaria and they stated that they wouldn't guarentee a pairing (unless from "Divers Den") but confirmed that most of them will change gender. Generally the larger clown fish is the female. Long story short, I have two clowns they were the same size when I got them...

    Should I get a firefish?

Very true. These are all only generalizations. Just like saying if you stuck an IT person and a psychologist in one room that they will always fight. (Smile, life is short - that was meant as a bad joke, not to offend IT people or psychologists)

live rock placement - stack it high or spread it out

Just keep in mind some corals come attached to rock and may need room for the rock. Just make sure the rock is stable however you place it.

How long before turning on Protein Skimmer

I personally waited until the cycle was fully completed. I only did this because in my mind I wanted the organics to break down in the water column to help the bacteria grow and die (aka cycle) until there was an equilibrium of die off and growth. Wont' hurt to have it on, but may delay this...

    Compatibility

Yep, and I do have over 100 pounds. That is why I stated they are not suited. krustylloyd stated that they would add pods. If you add pods a couple times a week the food supply should be ok, but as soon as you stop the dragonettes will slowly starve. If the dragonettes eat mysis then you...

    Compatibility

Normally dragonettes are not so suited for nanos since they normally feed solely on live critters from live rock and live sand. So much so that most dragonettes will starve (slowly mind you) over the course of a couple months. My dragonette feeds on mysis, but still needs my live rock for...

    Snail picture

That is a great shot. I have no photographic ability what so ever. So I am amazed at how clear the photos are. I have a macro setting on my camera but it can NEVER actually focus on anything... disappointing.

Do the blue lights stay on all night?

I have my LED moon lights on all night after the main lights go off. But that is just me. If on the other hand you are talking about the actinic lighting (normal light bulb sized) that is something a bit different and those shouldn't be on all night.

    5 Gallon Starter?

I have this ATO and in a tank that small the evaporation is probably the biggest issue. http://www.aquahub.com/store/product26.html
