    10 gallon Hex ??

Reef only is the plan. Plus slower flow rate. I'm going to try and not even "feed" the tank. I'm not sure how plausible that is, but I will have to research for corals that are solely photosynthetic.

    10 gallon Hex ??

I have one of those 10 gallon hexes and my plans were to drill the bottom. I plan on having the tank in a kind of basin and create a zero edge tank. the water would be pushed up through the tank and over the edge back into the sump. Ball valves and a check valve would be the only think...

    what can I add

I would consider it a bit cruel if he were to live in a area where his body parts touch all edges. I'm not mad or yelling (no emotions come through text :cool1: ) , but I personally think it a bit cruel. Maybe a sexy shrimp?

    new tank, glass thickness?

Double check dimensions of the tank? The first post seems to state otherwise. If those measurements are correct then I would definitely agree with Ritsuko N.

    Newbie Question

Or just have inverts as opposed to fish. They have a smaller bio load.

    Aggression in the tank

Ok I seem to have a bit of ... tension in the tank. I have a school of 3 firefish and a pair of ocellarus clown fish. The firefish where in the tank first and chose their home. Waited a week or so and added in the clowns and they took the firefish spot. Actually the clowns seem to own the...

    Lighting on my non nano

I have my 90 gallon up and running and it currently is a FOWLR. But, I always knew I wanted to have coral so I am looking at lighting and think I have found a rather nice retro kit to install in my canopy. But I would like all of you thoughts and opinions. I am thinking 2 x 250 watt MH...

So what are your hobbies other than nano tanks?

When I had my single family home I had a little garden with tomatoes, jalapenos, Basil, zucchini, and wild berries (don't ask...). But now I am in a town house with no yard to garden in. I think I did pretty well as my tomato plants were going crazy with tomatoes, even had enough to can some.

June Contest - enter your best clean up crew photo

I was entirely thrilled with the photo I turned in either, but that's because I'm a bad photographer. I need to take a class or have someone show me some tips. Plus I'm just using a Kodak point and shoot easy-share. Works well enough, but even the macro doesn't focus well because of the glass...

TIDE effect in your BC 29?

Now I'm stretching here, but water expands as it freezes ... I don't THINK 2.4 degrees would make any difference of how much space the water is taking up so I bet that there is something else at work here. Well, I'm stumped. Let me know if you find out please.

    water change help

Well for my salt 1/2 a cup of salt covers a gallon. so lets see....carry the one.....switch the symbols... and divide by my 3rd grade wall locker combination and I get .... 1/32nd of a cup of salt for a cup of water. Or more readily recognized as 1/2 tablespoon of salt per cup of RO/DI water...

    Need some insight

Protein skim, surface skim, refugium, diligent water changes, automatic top off, and maybe some carbon (or chemi-pure) will help maximize your system. I'm not a big user of supplements to tanks, but that is a personal choice. The top amount a tank can hold varies tank by tank but you should be...

Just out of curiosity what brand bulb did you use?

    Need some insight

Well, you only have two fish listed. The inverts (for the most part) are ok and don't really add to the bio load. Both fish you listed are not normally part of a nano tank (tangs like wide spaces to swim and mandarins normally need tons of LR for food). Gobies and blennies normally are a good...

    new set up

Depends on if you want the return to help with flow and how much current you want. Just make sure your pump does not move more water than your overflow can handle. About 3-5 times the display tank is a good starting point.
