    lights on or off?

The stuff on your sand is more than likely your diatom bloom and is normal, usually happens near the end of you cycle. I used live rock (this stuff was in their tanks FOREVER) from a store not 10 minutes away and it was covered in wet paper and I put in a tank with live sand from a wet bag and I...

What is going on with my tank? Algae problem...but water OK

I can't see the image, but keep in mind your water parameters can read fine and there still be a problem with them. A possible reason you read 0 phosphates is the algae is eating it all. Cut back on amount you are feeding, increase flow over all, and weekly water changes (smaller ones are...

    Very cool!

    55 in progress

It is replacing the 55. You can see the 20 g long in the last shot and I couldn't get the return section large enough really. Plus I just can't get my sump/refugium to be how I want them to be. I am probably just going to pay Melev to make me one.

Nice. I love my water filter.

    Should I get a firefish?

I don't think you will have any problems. I wouldn't put anymore fish in that tank besides those two personally, but you should have any problems with inverts or corals.

    lights on or off?

0s all the way? You should have SOME Nitrates at the end of your cycle IMO.

Why am I a snail murderer?

Congrats on the snails! I too have not heard of a firefish being problematic with feather dusters. But they do jump so make sure a lid is on. For epoxy I use "AquaStik" Stone Grey Epoxy Putty. "For Underwater Use". I wouldn't get the bumble bee snails. I have no personal experience but I...

    55 in progress

So here is the new tank. LOL just got the first one really started and already upgraded. Maybe I can keep this one for a bit longer :) I mean, I have the lights to upgrade next. For the refuge I am having someone cut me the squares of class instead of trying to cut the super thin acrylic I...

    so......get this

I think I remember someone using panty hose to help catch them. They put shrimp inside the panty hose and kind of propped open the panty hose with a zip tie so the bristle worms could crawl in then get yanked up... Either that or I'm having really weird dreams again.

    lights on or off?

The only reason I would use the lights would be to make sure there are no temp swings from light on and lights off. After determining this I agree with KidNano, nothing needs the light yet.

    favorite Nano Fish

I prefer inverts. I just love shrimp and crabs. An arrow crab is pretty dang cool...but just be careful with him.

Anemome got sucked in filter and its EVERYWHERE!

Either that or get a a piece of tubing and a pump to suck out all the pieces. A net may help with the larger, but really the best would be lots of flow (to get the pieces in the water column) and filter floss to catch it somewhere. Change that floss OFTEN and make sure to change your carbon a...

    Aqua Pod Lighting

You can keep quite a few corals with the stock lighting mainly what a lot of people refer to as LPS. Just not the real light demanding corals. You would of course benefit from a better light, but you can do well with what you have. Skimmer is optional so long as you keep up with weekly water...

Anemome got sucked in filter and its EVERYWHERE!

Sorry to hear about the loss but keep an eye on the pieces, they will start to decompose eventually. You may want to try and get some enhanced mechanical filtration to help clear it out.
