    starting a new 20L

Looks like a nice start! These bulbs work quite nicely: Geisemann Actinic Plus Geisemann Aquablue Plus UV Lighting 75/25 UV Lighting Aquasun UV Lighting Super Actinic A lot of people like the Icecap ballasts, but for my 90 gallon I went with the hello lights retrofit kit and they...

Good luck with the anemone! Check your levels very often!

    Finally put my tank together...

I like the blue night lights as most of my corals have a nice glow when blue light hits them (actinics anyone :cool1: ) But I don't think it makes much difference either way. Just as long as there is *some* light in the area (and most of the time there is). I love that photo by the way

    ;-) You're welcome. :cool1:

    Finally put my tank together...

I would do a little bit less, but that is just me. I am of the thought process of slow changes, good or bad. I normally do 10-20% water changes once a week. For more water changes I would simply do one more water change, no additional volume just another change of water.

    Newb with live rock

I learned the hard way to QT everything, even my rocks. I failed to dip a new rock (20+) pounds and discovered I had a mantis shrimp stowaway ( I love him! But he made a buffet out of my cleaning crew and nabbed a fish or two) as well as somehow introducing "velvet disease" (aka oodinium). I...

That much of a temperature swing isn't too much to be concerned about. LOL I hate waiting for packages, seems to take forever.

Nice. Keep up with water changes and try not to over feed your fishes to keep the algae gone.

    Pico experiment

A DSB generally has to be several inches thick so I don't know how feasible it will be on that small of a tank. I generally like running carbon to help keep the water clear, but other than that maybe a bit of floss in the beginning to help clear out some of the finer particulate matter? Or you...

    Is your tap safe???

This is a great thread though. I am jealous of the <10ppm tap water. I imagine the water actually tastes good out the tap! I guess a good moral for this story is.... TEST your water to see if it's ok. Personal opinions aside this is all theory unless someone takes the time to actually...

That does sound a bit much. I fed about that much to my 90 gallon with a 30 gallon sump. FYI brine is more like popcorn than food to critters (very little nutrition). Mysis shrimp are MUCH higher in protein. My 12 gallon gets food every other day (one fish, blue spot jawfish). I feed a single...

    5 Gallon Starter?

The site states: This kit also fits the 12g and 24g Nano Cube Aquariums (modifications required). The bulb and socket assembly are only 13.25" total length. So I don't think it would be an issue, also the site says the reflector is 14". So should be fine, but I would send an email or call...

LOL I just use the coralife. The actual temp doesn't bother me too much, just the stability of that temp. Not sure on your battery powered pump, try it and see.

    Hair algae? Please say no.

Joes Juice also works well for any glass anemones (majano or aiptasia).

    HERE IS MY REEF!!!!!!!

Very gorgeous. Anything you picked up along the way you would like to share with the rest of us? (things to look for, things you would do different, etc) By the way... :welcome to Nanotank.com! P.S. It *may* be a GBTA? Any pictures of it? Any issues with movement?
