    having 20 years of freshwater tropical under my belt i have to say that the cycle in a freshwater tank isnt nearly as bad as a saltwater tank if there even is one at all... there is no live rock, no nothing to cause a cycle so the only ammonia in the tank is coming from the fish you are cycling...

    no aggression other than the pairing playing that they do... its pretty awesome actually.. there is a thread on RC (if the search ever works) where it explains the behavior so you dont get scared.. so far so good..in fact the big one actually showed the submissive move to the little one after...

    ^^ that also might explain the slight loss of color, im sure the zoaxanthelia affect the color seeing as most corals are almost see-through..

    cant... i live in a residence hall.. nowhere to put it.. lol... plus wayyyy too expencive.. thats why i got a 5 gallon. i can move it if the power is going to be out more than a day... walmart sometimes carries them...

    EMERGENCY NO POWER...

    battery operated air pumps to keep water moving... water changes regularly (every couple of hours depending on temps) should be fine without lights for a day or so, heat may be an issue depending on how hot it gets in your house without AC.. can you tell i have some experience with this...

    there is an option there for a 50 or 70 watt metal halide for 39 dollars more... i suppose that might work, but you will need to get the appropriate bulb to get the right wavelengths

    My new fuge...

    its going to have a hang on back overflow like the one on Melev's 29 gallon tank on his site... www.melevsreef.com someone is supposed to make it for me.. the 10 gallon is maybe a foot below the 5 gallon, not a lot.. but it is 4-5 feet to the left of it... if i notice it is not pumping...

    so im not a newbie, but this is a newbie question... So i am setting up a 10 gallon fuge for my 5 gallon tank... lol crazy... i have it filled up 3/4 of the way with fresh saltwater, 10lbs of arag-alive agragonite, and one medium sized fiji liverock (about 4-5lbs)....i wanted to smash it...

    i dose that in my display... the 10 gallon will get it too eventually.. the 10 gallon is actually a fuge/grow out tank for the 5.5... im hooking up a HOB overflow and running water between the two... so itll be around 13 gallons of water volume between the 2 and itll share everything.. i cant...
