are u using a swing arm hydrometer? those things are very unreliable unless you clean them regularly... and even if you do they arent so great.... that could account for the difference..

now i have the same one and i clean it regularly to keep the build up minimal... but those swing arm hydrometers are notoriously inaccurate even if perfectly clean... apparently if you get like 6 of them fresh out of the box you will most likely get 3 different readings...refractometer coming...

the fourth pic is blue atlantic tang.... they look almost identicle to the yellow ones but they are a deep blue... definately something i will collect when i setup a bigger tank...

same length yes.. but 2x as wide... its 2 of the 1x18 bulbs that you are looking at... honestly, i would save myself the hassle and just get the 1x18 because we know it will fit... besides you wont feel as bad later ripping it out to put a MH in there when you get bit by the SPS bug...j/k

ive just counted again and when i got my branch about 4 months ago there were 6 zoas... now over 24.... tripled in that time... that means in 4 months ill have close to 100 spreading all over that side of the tank...

i have a canon sd100 and while that is ancient the digital elph line is still around... but now its up to like the 550 or something like that... takes some of the best pictures ive seen from any point and shoot and its nice and small... mine is actually huge compared to the newer ones im sure...

i lost two like that... my problem was SG... at the time i didnt have a test and it was over 1.030... changes in salinity can kill them quick, so maybe you should ask the store what they keep theirs at because if you keep yours at say the low end of 1.023 and they keep theres at the high end say...

never change the water during the cycle.. wait until amonia, nitrite, and nitrate are zero.. if amonia and nitrite reach zero and nitrates are not zero but low you can do a water change then (at the end of your cycle) to remove the nitrates...

ed, looks like a regular true perc to me... at the age where they have their third stripe that developed it would be much more black than that if it were onyx... the third stripe developes between 8-12 months and they are usually done with all their black by 16 months...
