    I need everyone's input/suggestions...

well the tank i am considering using measures 24"Lx12"Wx16 1/2"T...i think that is a standard 20 actually. So i my main tank will be a 20L and minimal flow is preferred, is 200 gph through the fuge good? Ive heard 5-10x the volume of the main tank per hour.

    Reefman's 20 gallon long stand...

Thanks for those links erik. i have studied the sump in the first link before, and i think i am leaning toward a design like that but using a 20L. i think the 20H that i have isnt the best choice.

    Pictures Finally

first suggestion...easy on the flakes. only add a couple flakes and wait for the fish to eat them before adding any more. it is very easy to overfeed and that can cause skyhigh nitrates and ammonia in such a small environment. be more concerned about overfeeding the fish rather than...

    Dirty tank bottom

well first of all, dont disturb the sand bed too much...just the top 1/2" or so. Second, do you have any true nassarius snails? I have 3 or 4 of these guys and they are great. thirdly, i think we all have sand beds that are littered with snail/hermit poo's too, i think it just doesnt show up...

    Reefman's 20 gallon long stand...

So this is my current DIY project...a stand for my new setup. It is oversized so that I can fit a sump/fuge underneath (feel free to voice any comments/suggestions you may have for this sump/fuge in my post in the refugium section). It is also just under 36" tall because a 20L is only 12" tall...

    Lights for a BTA

I had an rbta that i just sold a week ago after having it in my 16 for 2 years. needless to say, it got too big for the tank. i had 80 watts pc on it...always thought it wasnt enough lighting, but i kept it well fed on uncooked tiger shrimp and silversides.

    trying to understand

I dont think that the amount of space in that palm filter will do much for the algae. Have you tried increasing the water flow in the areas where you are getting the red slime? Thats what i did when i had a problem with the red slime and i havent seen any since.

    20 gal aquatic design habitats

That lighting should be good for what you are keeping. however, if you ever decided to go with any light-loving corals like clams or sps, then you would want metal halide for sure due to the 20" high depth. pc's just dont penetrate as good as mh. is this tank arylic?
