    Yet another newbie....

It sounds like you've got all the makings for a great tank. Doing a 10-15% water change weekly along with a decent hang-on-back filter, and a skimmer if you've got one handy, or can find a cheap one will generally keep things pretty clean. The larger tank is gonna give you much more room to...

What size of aquarium should I get?

Regular fluorescent bulbs don't really work well for reef tanks, even nano reefs. For either tank you'll realistically need to upgrade to at least PC lamps depending on what kind of corals you'd like to keep. Even mushrooms don't do all that great under standard fluorescent bulbs. However if...

Pic of the week --- Mushrooms

Very nice. Was this when you came back from vacation? Or was this more recent? B

Pic of the week --- Feeding time.

I don't know...I really like pics where polyps are grabbing food, so that last pic was very cool IMO. B

    hi new here....

Sorry, your question about being able to keep something in the fuge made me think you were another person setting up two tanks with one as a fuge. No I don't think that the AC500 is a viable space for seahorses, or really any thing else that you don't want in your main tank. I've seen clams...

Anyone ever heard of black sun polyps?

That sucks. My latest one is still holding on, but I expect it to go anytime. It ate for the first couple days then stopped. I'm thinking someone is catching them with cyanide. B

    Worm ID Plz

Both fine. The ringed one is probably a peanut worm. Do a search for it. We just had a couple threads with them. The other one is a bristle worm. Harmles detrivore unless it gets huge, (8in or more). This is of course just a guess without pics. B

Pic of the week --- Mushrooms

Very nice. One of the first corals I had was a single large shroom from a friends tank. After about a year it started twisting it's foot up, an finally separated from the rock. Where the foot was another smaller mushroom grew. Kind of interesting all the different ways they have of...

    Live sand

Post to RC in the WTS/WTB forum that you're looking for a cup of live sand and put your area in your post. There's gotta be some other saltwater keepers near you that would sell or give you a cup of live sand. Brian

A couple of macro images from the cube

Fabulous....I'm looking for some of the green glove polyps. One of the guys on MARSH has some but is asking $4 per polyp. I just don't want them that bad. I really like the one of the mushroom, and the one of the zoos. B

New pics of my 29 gal tank.

I've seen a few in the last five or six weeks. VTF, T&T, and Planet Fish all have fungia right now, but they're all more pink than purple. The one at VTF didn't look as healthy as the other two. Do you have any idea what Neptunes was asking for the anemone? I'll look at the Marsh thread...

Phischy's Project PtIII: Actually have corals!

If you can really target the hole a syringe with rubbing alcohol will do the trick as well. I wouldn't want to do too much, cause it's not good for anything else in the tank either, but it certainly isn't as crazy as this. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthrea ... acker+crab

New pics of my 29 gal tank.

 We were doing the same thing, waiting for the price to drop. I'm actually glad to finally see a pic of it in your tanks. I noticed a brain from Aquatic Center that I got asked about after I took pics of it as well in there. Good to know the pics are getting some people...

Anyone ever heard of black sun polyps?

What I usually do is squirt a very small amount in the tank to let them 'smell' it. I then give them 10-15mins to extend the polyps. Then I go back in turn the pumps off and squirt them directly with the food. I wait a bit, come back, squirt them again, then turn the pumps back on...

    Dec. Contest Winner - Incysor

I've got two sets of batteries, and two chargers. I figured out what the deal was last night. With the charger I was using, you have to unplug the charger, put the batteries in, then plug it in. If you take out the newly charged batteries and put in the weak set without unplugging the charger...

Anyone ever heard of black sun polyps?

Lots of folks use these types of 'feeding hats' to help isolate corals or anemones for feeding. Lot's of anemones have shrimp or fish steal their food before they can work it into their mouths. I don't bother doing this with my sun corals. I just either put them in a low-flow area, or turn...

    Versions of 24G Nano Cube

If you see one with more than 2x36w PC lights then it's 'Deluxe'. I don't think there is a 24g and a 24g deluxe yet, but I could be wrong. I saw them the day the LFS got them in and the 2x36w is what they come with. B

    Tru Vu 3.5 Nano...

Rics like most mushrooms differ on their light requirements. My orange, and pink rics seem to love the high light, but my blue, or green rics don't seem to tolerate it well. The light blue one in my little nano doubled in size then split, and the clone is larger than the orginal was under more...
