Pic of the week --- Macro shots

Great shots. It's very difficult to get good ones of pulsing xenia since they keep moving on their own. B

Please help a newbie with opinions of nano systems

I'd go with the nano cube. I'd also increase your budget a bit to around $150 and get the 12g deluxe cube. You'll be able to keep softies, and most LPS with no additional output of cash. If you go with any of the others you're going to have to get a better filter and better lights to keep...

Here's a pic of the little guy. So far he appears to be a decent addition. I'm still keeping an eye on him to make sure he doesn't go harvesting. B

    Plate coral update

This is for Nathan and Stephanie who sold me this plate coral. It's starting to lose the brown, the lavendar is starting to show through more. B

    Jawfish

1" really isn't deep enough. 3-4" would probably be doable. Make sure that there is larger chunks of rock. They prefer the larger crushed coral to fine sand. You can just take a small piece of LR rubble and smash it up with hammer. They use the larger pieces to shore up their burrows...

    RC closed my thread !!!!

Seriously. Take lots of pics, and store them by date. It'll be great to have the documentation for the long run as you'll run into this time and again posting pics of your tank. There are a lot of people in this hobby that think that their way is the only way to do things, and anyone not...

Pic of the week --- Macro shots

Sweet...What kinda camera? Can't wait to see some shots. I'm still making do with a 256,mb and two 128mb cards. I really should go get a 1gb card, since the price has dropped on them. Just a tidbit of info. With most cameras theres no discernable difference between 'high speed'...

Pic of the week --- Macro shots

I love macro shots. Post 'em if you got 'em. Try to keep the images at 60x450 or less so those with dial up can enjoy them too. B Here's some of my more recent ones.

Re: thread closed Yeah, I found it last night and managed to get my two cents in before the thread got closed....I'm not real sure why it was closed...newmoon was certainly pushy, and adamant, but nobody really stepped over the line in regards to name calling, or cussing or anything. B

    Does Good water go Bad?

To maintain a nano an RO/DI system isn't really cost effective. It's much more cost effective to buy both RO/DI and salt water from a trusted LFS. I would invest in one of the disposable type filters similar to this: http://www.bigalsonline.com/catalog/pro ... d1=;pcid2= Just because you...

    Another Newbi :)

Nope a skimmer isn't necessary. Basically skimmers and filters are just ways to lessen the frequency of water changes. Most nano-reefers try to do a water change at least once a week, so a skimmer really isn't needed. I've got a small one on my wife's 10g because she tends to procrastinate on...

    Vibe's 10 gallon bedroom nano

How to post images http://nanotank.com/viewtopic.php?t=6 Do you have any more recent shots of the aquarium? It looks like this was taken right after you set it up. But the description lists all kinds of eye candy in your tank. Welcome to NanoTank. Brian

    cyano bubble algae

Great posts SM. This is exactly what I've been trying to get across. The first time I dosed the tanks with chemi-clean I didn't use enough and it reduced the cyano a bit but didn't kill it. The second time I dosed just a tad more than the recommended amount and it did the trick. B

    Newbie.....

Very cool....Frank Marini is actually going to be giving the 2nd part of a talk on fish breeding at the local clubs monthly meeting next month. I've seen him lecture once before at one of the meetings. The topic that time was FO systems and predators in general. B

    Newbie.....

I found a couple sites for this product...This one is a pretty good price for it. Although $20 for 4oz is pretty steep. From what I can tell this is meant to help you jump-start your pod population in a new tank, or for starting your own culture. I think that a mandarin would go through the...

    starting 7

It'll probably be quite a bit faster, if you're using livesand, liverock, and water from an established tank, but you'll probably still have a small one from the anaerobic bacteria die off you'll have in the live sand. I would guess it'd probably be over in a few days, to a week, but I'd still...
