That's a very good description Dragon. Basically the same thing happens with galaxia. Any exposed dead skeleton will remain dead. I think this is basically true for most corals. The first coral I ever got was a bubble coral, with about a softball sized skeleton. At one point half of it...
What size tank is this again?
What type of test kits are you using?
Have you changed your lights recently?
How old are the bulbs?
If you're barely getting a reading on calcium then your alk, and usually your PH will be off as well, or will be going through swings.
How long did the tank sit with just sand and live rock before adding the corals and clean up crew? This isn't clear from the first post. Even in a tank this small there's going to be a cycle. I think you've just added critters in too quickly. DO NOT put a sandsifting star in the tank. That...
bi-color blennies are great...But not suitable for that small a tank.
Personally I don't think you should put any fish in a tank that small.
Even the ones that perch most of the time get up and swim around in the current quite a bit.
If I WAS going to try a fish in this size tank it...
Actually that's just two of them....The full list of the stores in town and my thoughts on them is here:

I actually visited another store that had several nice SPS corals, but they're not a MARSH sponsor store, so I don't post pics of stuff I see in...
I visited T&T, and Global yesterday. I took lots of pics and posted them up on Marsh. I split the pics up into 7 threads to make it a little bit more manageable, but it's still somewhere over 200 pics.
Have fun.

The price is the same in my area....If they changed the capture method and the price went up, then logically that would point to more time-consuming, responsible capture methods, which would lead to higher survival rates, not lower ones.

It's nearly impossible to judge what will do well in our tanks by how it looks in the store. Other than display tanks a LFS tank isn't set up to maintain corals/fish long term. They are tanks for holding the livestock short term until someone purchases them. 35 clownfish in a 20g tank isn't...
I think this would be a pretty good choice. They stay relatively small, don't nip at stuff, and aren't very agressive, except towards pseudochomis, or basslets. This should be a good match with the clowns.

I doubt it'll do very well. Mine never seemed very happy in my 55g...Even under 130w PC.
Now that it's under the vho/mh combo it's doing much better. However I'm not sure it's because of the additional light, or because of the higher flow. Either one of which is gonna be a problem in a 6g...
I think it would get along fine as long as it was small. It's really a toss up as to what will happen as it gets bigger. If it's wild caught it's more likely to host something, but you can never tell. I disagree that the tank raised ones don't have the instinct to host, but from what I've...
Flame angels are known for being very hit-or-miss as to coral nipping. It seems to be a very much an individual by individual trait. That said. A 20 is too small for a flame angel. They just need more swimming room that that.
