Pic of the week --- Shrimp

Not the best pic in the world, but I thought it was amusing...I think these are all regular cleaner shrimp.

    Black Perculas pair (rare)

I think they're beautiful fish...You certainly don't see them as much as the orange version. While there aren't any other largely recognized true-breeding color morphs, there are a few that come out periodically, definitely rarer than the the orange, or the black ocellaris, but still ocellaris...

    Fish for a 2.5?

While it might be pretty to have a mandarin in a 2.5, they're just not a candidate. Eating prepared or not. I had a neon dottyback, not a fridmani, (orchid), but all the dottybacks are very similar in temperment/actions. It swam around all the time. They don't hover much. The clown gobies...

Looks very good. Nice setup. Is the light going to be turned so it's facing the same direction as the tank? B

Pic of the week --- Shrimp

I thought about it, but most of the pics I had before with the harlequin were kinda boring. I took my camera to work with me every day, I even got in a fight with my wife because I wouldn't let her borrow it, but the sucker just wouldn't come out when I actually had the camera there. I thought...

Pic of the week --- Shrimp

Here's some of the best from yesterday. The first is just a sort of overview of what the tank looks like now. The rest are of the Harlequin shrimp, the Sexy shrimp, or maybe the clowns. B

    Fish for a 2.5?

When I had the one in my 55g, it ate pretty much anything. If you can get the store folks to try mysis, or flake or something other than brine you'll have a better idea of whether it'll live in your tank. Nearly everything hits on brine, but brine is the nutritional equivalent of popcorn, so...

    Fish for a 2.5?

I doubt that the female will die due to the male croaking....But as a whole they don't have a great survival rate even in large tanks because they generally only eat by sifting stuff out of the sandbed. There doesn't seem to be enough in the sandbeds of even large tanks to keep them alive in...

    Fish for a 2.5?

I think a clown goby is actually the best choice...I mistakenly stated a citron goby would be good earlier when I actually meant yellow clown goby....I tend to get citron and clown mixed up because when I was starting out, and learning about stuff, the LFS, and even some of the websites used the...

    Great Idea

Have you looked over MAAST.org? They'll probably be able to suggest stores in San Antonio. They did a good job letting me know which ones to hit on a long weekend in Austin. B

    Help!

BWs are just tough, tough critters. They're evolved to live in all kinds of areas that would be challenging for most of the animals in our tanks. Tidal zones and estuaries have huge salinity, and temp changes over short periods of time. Good job, finally figuring it out. B

    Fish for a 2.5?

Well, two of the species you listed, the mandarins and the twinspot gobies have specialized diets, that are unlikely to get met in any nano tank. If you can find either of these in the store that accept prepared foods you might be able to make it work in a larger 18g-20g nano, but it's still...

    mushrooms

No you shouldn't be worried. But you might want to start using the search function on the boards. This question and a lot of your other ones are very common, and have been answered many, many times. The shroom is most likely expelling waste. They've only got one entrance/exit for food and...

Pic of the week --- Shrimp

The first pic is a freshwater shrimp. I don't have any freshwater tanks....Hence it's not a pic of something in my tanks....Rules of the contest state subjects from the photographers tank. My sexy and harlequin shrimp came out like crazy today. I spent my lunch hour shooting...

    Black Perculas pair (rare)

These guys are acually a variant of Amphiprion ocellaris. They're usually tank raised, and normally come in from a couple distributors either in England, or Australia. These look like juvis, and should darken up a bit with age. I used to have one that I really liked, but I lost her in the...
