    i found this compact florescent

A lot of people start off with weaker lights because they're cheaper. Once they've had their tanks up a couple months, and they start learning more about corals, and the light requirements, they end up upgrading because the original lights aren't bright enough to keep what they'd like. If...

All the recommendations I've always read for how much liverock, is 1-3lbs per gallon. I generally start my tanks with about 1.5-2lbs per gallon, and leave myself a bit of room. Most corals will come on pieces of rock, so it gradually fills up. I'd get at least a couple more pounds for your...

    Zuma needs help !!!

Unfortunately I haven't had any luck with yumas...I've had 4 now, and they all shriveled up and died. I tried moving them to shadier areas, brightly lit areas, more flow, less flow. I was directly feeding them the whole time. I'm not trying anymore cause the suckers are expensive. B

    another newbie question...SORRY!!!

I believe you can add loc-line parts to the output which would give you a bit more manueverability when it comes to flow. I don't have a nanocube though so I'm not 100% sure. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem. ... &ast=&key= Mike, Steven? What do you guys think? B

    another newbie question...SORRY!!!

Do you have a picture of your tank? How much LR do you have in it. Even if you have a PH in a tank you can usually just point it at the LR, and it breaks the flow pattern up enough that it won't disturb the sand much. Can you arrange it to try this? B

Pico transitioned to JBJ 6 gallon...a new beginning

Re: yellow ric Are you talking about the organ pipe? I've never had any luck with it. I've tried small pieces a couple times in the past and they just dwindled away. B

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it on a 5.5g tank. Just run the filter with the sponge/carbon insert and change your water weekly. B

That's a very nice looking specimen. The ones I usually see at the LFS are more cream and brown. B

    12 Gallon Nano Cube

Here's a partial list of my aqarium-related books. I've still got boxes of books in the garage that we haven't been able to find room for, so there are probably a few others. Aquarium Corals - Eric Borneman The Living Aquarium - Peter Hunnam Ultimate Marine Aquariums: Saltwater Dream...

    12 Gallon Nano Cube

Cyano Acryllate Gel = Super glue gel. He's right that you can usually find larger cheaper bottles in the hobby shops. They also make an epoxy putty that you can use directly in the tank underwater...Just pinch some off, knead it to warm it up and make it a bit softer and then stick...

    Lee's counter current skimmer?

I've got the pico version of this type of skimmer in my wife's tank. It works pretty well. You do need to use limewood airstones with it, and they need to be changed a couple times a month. B

    another newbie question...SORRY!!!

First...Don't start a new thread for the same problem. Having to search back through threads to find info on your tank specs wastes time. This is very strange. What type of sand are you using? I haven't ever heard of someone's tank taking this long to settle out. Unless they're...

It's actually better if you cycle the tank with the lights off. If you're planning on doing a fuge in your HOB, then you'll need a light source for the macro algae in it. It will be fine to run the light on that while the tank cycles, but you don't want the tank lights on during this period...

    i found this compact florescent

I've got a 32w over my 6g at work. I've got mushrooms, leathers, zoos, candy canes and some star polyps. Personally I'd go with the 96w. But you can still do lots of stuff with that 28w one. B

Pico transitioned to JBJ 6 gallon...a new beginning

It may be that they don't recognize sand sifters as prey. In the wild the sand sifters would mostly be buried in the sandbed, so they wouldn't have much interaction...Just guessing. I've never tried to feed a sand sifter to my harlequin because they're more expensive than chocolate chip stars...

    Handling Corals

Some of them can. Wearing latex gloves is good protection, dishwashing gloves are thicker/better. The gloves will protect you against stings, and also against cuts from live rock. These are good if you're dealing with a larger tank. http://www.fishsupply.com/cgi-bin/f2/co ... SCES-09505...
