    New Critter :D

Actually dominos will host anemones just like clownfish. By biting it it's acclimating itself to the sting of the anemone. It's a good sign that in a short while he might start hosting it. B

    fuji finepix S5100

I haven't taken any pics with this camera, or know anyone that has. But based on the specs/review here, you should be able to get pretty good shots with it. The macro fuction doesn't allow you to get as close as some, but it's not a bad all around camera. If you do a search for s5100 in RC's...

    Red Slime

If you don't already have a phosphate test kit, I'd just take a sample into your LFS and have them test it. If it tests high then I'd buy one, so you can keep an eye on it. B

    Want to start 38cm cube

I think the AC 500 may be too big...It takes up most of the back of my wife's 10g. I'll measure it when I get home if that'll help. Just doing a quick google of it, I wasn't able to find the dimensions for it. B

    need lighting ideas

What type of center brace does it have? 'Corals' is too generic to determine the lighting needs. There is a world of difference in lighting for SPS corals, and LPS corals, and softies/mushrooms. Anemones generally require moderate to high lighting. But it depends on the type of anemone...

    Red Slime

I'd test for phosphates and see what your levels are. It's very easy to overfeed with cyclopeeze. If your phosphate levels come back high, I'd try cutting your feeding in half, and get some type of phosphate absorber. Easiest way to reduce your feeding is to feed every other day if you're...

    Red Slime

Cyano is usually caused by overfeeding/underfiltering, and/or a lack of flow. This is why it usually starts forming in the low-flow-well-lit areas first. The higher your phosphates are the more likely you are to have it. Do a large water change, change out your filter media, and cut your...

    tube anemone

Probably. Tubes have very strong stings. But it depends on how sensitive the feather dusters crown is. That I don't know. B

New to Nano's - need advice

I ordered this. Setup a 10g tank with a basic NO 10k lightstrip. Put a cheap carbon bubbler driven filter on it. Fed the tank periodically with the pod flake that came with the setup after the lights were off. Usually I just sucked the pods up with a turkey baster and dropped them in the...

New to Nano's - need advice

mihkaail's correct. A mandarin in a 12g isn't a good idea. Unless you're very lucky and can get it trained to eat prepared before it starves it'll die. If you've got the 120 already setup and full of rock/water that would be a much better place for it. Trying to suck out pods to feed it in...

    new 36g corner tank.

I like wet/dry filters. I think an internal overflow looks a bit nicer, and is a bit less of a headache, but you'll have to find someone to drill the tank for you. If the tank has a tempered glass bottom they won't be able to drill through it. They could probably drill through the back panel...

    Nano Refuge questions...

anaerobic bacterica - oxygen kills it, lives deep inside LR and deep in the sand bad. aerobic bacteria - needs oxygen, lives on surface of bioballs, other high surface area media, outside of LR etc... Generally does better if it's not totally submerged, but kept wet. So LR rubble is an...

It looks pretty straightforward if you've got the tools and equipment. What areas are you having problems with? You might try posting over in the DIY forum on: www.marshreef.com There's lots of folks over there that have some skill/experience with working with acrylic, if that's the...

    Starting a new reef tank

That light is probably a bit weak for 15g. If the tank is brand new and you put the polyps in they're probalby less in shock from lack of light than they are from the fact that it's a new tank that hasn't finished it's cycle yet. I couldn't keep star polyps alive for anything in the same setup...
