damn it, another death and or missing in jbj12 gallon

You could just put a bit of silicone in the holes to plug them up. When you're using the chemi-clean are you disolving it in cup of tank water first, then adding it to the back of the cube? This should keep anything from trying to eat it. Glad you found the goby. The've been kinda scarce...

    Gunk in the sand bed...

That's cyano. It means you have too many nutrients in your system and/or too little flow. If you use a fairly large diameter tube to do you water change you should be able to suck it up when you're doing your water changes. I get spots here and there from time to time, and it just syphons...

    Fish Help!

That sucks....Sorry to hear it. Glad you finally figured out what the problem was though. One thing that might help folks going through the same thing. When you're doing the massive water changes to try to correct a runaway problem, do it in small amounts. The fish and especially the...

    Auto top-off for a nanocube?

I don't have a cube, so I can't give any specific advice, but from looking at them I would think it would be very easy to drill a small hole in the lid to run your wiring for the switch, and the airline tube to run the water into the tank, then just glue an acrylic bracket to hold the switch...

Cleaner shrimp died in my g/f's tank

The only time I've seen emeralds get agressive is when they get pretty big. Unless it's significantly larger than the cleaner my guess would be the shrimp just died and the emerald was just doing it's job and cleaning up. It could just be natural causes, if everything else is stable. B

    tank cover question

7.8 isn't that low a PH. Most tanks go through a swing during the evening that can go from 8.2-8.3 to 7.8 or so. This shouldn't have killed your critters by itself. I'd definitely get someone that knows what they're doing with saltwater tests at the LFS test it. Are you using a dripline to...

    sos nano crash

I'd just check the normal params every couple days. If they start to rise alarmingly do another large water change. I'd expect it to be over within a week or so. B

    Fish Help!

If there's no marks, no sign of the common parasites, my first guess would be that your water quality is off, and your test kits are bad. Other problems that could cause this would be running a tank with glass tops, and no skimmer. This can lead to very low disolved oxygen concentrations...

    Fish Help!

I'd take a sample of water into the LFS. What type of test kits are you using? How old are they? Were there any obvious injury marks on the fish? You said the clown is showing signs, but then say there's no sign of ich and it's eating. What are the signs that it's unhealthy? B
