    Coral Propagation

Good luck with that. If I had any useful advice I'd give it, but I haven't really tried fragging anything yet. So I don't really have anything to add execpt good wishes. B

Fish ExpressWay.. ( FEW),, Check this out ....... expressway

I've seen several pics of people installing tubes like this between tanks. But nothing quite this high, or long. Usually just a couple tanks sitting relatively close to each other. As for the distance upwards that a fish will swim, that isn't any big deal at all. Most natural reefs range...

Yeah, in the faq on the website they said the first patent application in the US for this was in 1877. B

    good books

I posted this in another thread a couple weeks ago. I'd reccomend these. Aquarium Corals: - Eric Borneman A Practical Guide to Corals - Co-Authored by Eric Borneman As you can see by the post, I've got one, still don't have the other yet though. Here's a partial list of my...

Everything I've read is that they're pretty, but just not terribly effective for clearing nitrates. B

    Disappearing Snails

I don't really care for turbos...I've never really had too much trouble with my mini blue legs going after snails, although I've heard others have had problems with it. I periodically drop empty shells in my tank though so that the crabs can change shells as they get bigger...I also like cerith...

after the crash... there was the ph

I haven't heard that one's any better than the others...I think I've got Kent superbuffer right now. B

after the crash... there was the ph

Cool, sounds like it's not just a low reading due to the swing. I'd just go buy some buffer to add and follow the directions. B

    New office Nano

It's not just being uncovered that can be a big shock. If the tank water's params are widely different than the water coming in then you'll be shocking them by hitting them with so much good water at once without them having a chance to acclimate back from the wonky levels they've gotten used...

Micro Chillers, Sea Squirts and the Environmental Gradient.

Nope, haven't heard anything about it. Do you have links to discussions/articles? B

after the crash... there was the ph

7.8 on ph is a bit low, but most tanks go through a swing during the day. It's usually it's lowest right before the lights come back on for the day, and highest right after they shut off. When did you test it? A water change won't raise it unless the new water has a significantly higher pH...

Actually this does work, many of us have it hanging on a tank already. Think of this thing as nothing but a huge U-tube for an overflow. Once the tube is full of water it stays full, even if power is lost and water isn't flowing through it the water in the tube doesn't fall back into the two...

    6 gal eclipse

Gotcha....Somehow I missed the word eclipse....Those filters are bascially useless. The biowheel becomes a nitrate factory very quickly. I had an eclipse 3 hood on my 25. I cut the back out and added a large HOB biowheel filter that I took the biowheel out of, but it adds much more flow, and...

    6 gal eclipse

This still doesn't really answer the question about filtration...Is it a HOB filter, a cannister filter, an undergravel filter, (which would be a huge no-no). Is it a bio-wheel filter? Most of my tanks are viewable from more than one side. My 75-40 combo comes straight out from the wall, so...

    Nano Tank Questions

If you've only got fish crabs/snails in your tank lighting isn't important. However if you're tyring to keep corals then it's important because most of the colorful corals that people keep rely on photosynthesis for a large part of their energy. Different corals have different needs. Just...

    12 Gallon Nano Cube

Re: What does :gone through its cycle yet" mean? There is a biological cycle for the breakdown of ammonia that's generated by waste from food and from fish/critters in the tank. A combination of aerobic, (oxygen loving), and anaerobic, (oxygen hating), bacteria that live in the sandbed...

    Pics from Thursday

They'll only do well in pairs if they are already a mated pair when you buy them. If they're the same sex they'll kill each other. If they're opposite, they may still not pair up and kill each other. Mine was half of a pair when I got it. The smaller one disappeared one night. The only...

    6 gal eclipse

36w is enough for mushrooms, softies, zoos, and some lps, like frogspawn, and torch. I've got 32w over my 6g minibow, and have that stuff. It is not enough for an anemone. If you want an anemone you'll need to upgrade your lighting quite a bit. I think you'll have a hard time cramming enough...
