    1st salt tank

I would personally start with the polyps, blue legged hermits, firefish and the emerald crab. Then you can add in a coral at a time when you learn how to properly care for it. Take your time with purchases and see if all your tank inhabitants can co-exist well. For the ten gallon tank, one of...

    1st salt tank

A saltwater tank can have quite a few different setups depending on what you want to keep in it. If you have an idea of what you want we can help you better. Right now I'd suggest using the search function to find some other setup ideas. :welcome to Nanotank!

    Cyanbacteria Part 2

If you get a small enough PH you can try to hide it behing your rockwork. I forget if you upgraded your pump or not, but more often than not it is better to have two smaller PHs instead of one powerful one IMO.

    Mantis Shrimp, 3 gallon nano

Those mantis are a crusher type I think and they have to do that walling up and removing for them to fell at home. If he ever stops you can be sure something is very wrong. If you post those pictures over on reef central the experts over there can help you ID it if you are still curious. I've...

    NEW TANK

Watts per gallon is a very rough estimate, depth of tank and type of light is better to go on for our smaller tanks.

    Mantis Shrimp, 3 gallon nano

Reef Central has a forum just for mantis shrimp and they have a pretty good ID post stickied at the top. Name it yet?

    NEW TANK

8 watts is a bit low for anything other than fish IMO.

    Fraggin Frags.

I think some people have just gotten a bad taste in their mouth with the way SOME LFS treat customers. I personally have a LFS that is ok but I wouldn't follow their advice as they said I have too much light for most corals. (80w orbital fixture on a 10g AGA) But they do have a nice selection...

    Weird centipede looking creature

If you didn't have a lid on your tank your firefish might have gone carpet surfing.

    water change

You really shouldn't have to dose kalkwasser unless you have quite a few calcium demanding corals.

    water change

Yep lime water, you can go to the grocery store and buy pickling lime (same thing), just do me a favor and google the exact process of using pickling lime before you kill your tank by listening to me :D

    question bout filter media

Chemi-pure carbon is a good media choice. You can also run some floss (just clean it often). Another common media run is phos-ban or some other phosphate remover. The flow shouldn't be a problem so long as you don't have the powerheads pointed directly at the corals/fish, have them bounce of...

2006 model 12g nano cube dx

If you do use the tubing idea, i'd use black tubing to cut down on algae growth in the tube.
