72 Oceanic Reef Ready Bow Front Evolution...

Sorry to hear about your fish but glad the setup is done. Your work is always very clean and efficient looking so I'm interested in seeing what you consider avoiding

what kinda chemical media do you use?

A plant is in need of nutrients when one of three major discolorations occur. If the new growth is yellowed/whitened out. If the new leaves are splotched (ie green along the veins but yellowed in the meat). or if new growth is nice and green and the old growth is whitening/yellowing out...

    Which one?

Unfortunately I don't think there is an easy anser to this problem. Either you will have to gut the existing hood and retro fit some lights in there or make a pendant to hang over the tank. Watts per gallon on a nanot isn't a good way to measure light I've noticed. JohnandDawn is the person...

What in the world is a ZOO?

:chop: ahhhhhh he's after me!!!! yeah I gues the coloration is limited to the "wavy" coral I like but you toss in a red open brain here, a blue mushroom there, and some GSP to get a bit of color. :D

Please help on new nano tank selection....

:welcome Erik covered it pretty well. One thing that I can suggest is take time to use the search button near the top of the page. You should be able to find quite a few threads on which all-in-one tank is better. It seems to be personal choice as each has it's own pros and cons.

    UV Sterilizer

Mike is definately the man to ask about ich. Lots of great info. Maybe you could do a write up and DJ could make a sticky in the 911 area or something.

What in the world is a ZOO?

Hopefully I won't get strung up for saying this...but I don't really like zoas. I much prefer frogspawns, hammers, bubbles, etc. Never really saw the attraction. :::quick! must hide...I think I hear Ed loading a shotgun:::

    Glass scratch repair...

Never used that one but have used a similar product on my glasses. Their pictures exaggerate but it does work for shallow scratches.

New to nano, 10 gallon setup?

I second the agro-alive sand. If you get a larger tank just keep the nano as is and make a new tank :D

    This Low Light Coral!

Yeah FOWLR sounds like a better starting point. Maybe down the road you can con your parents into buying you a light for Christmas or save your money for a good light. Just make sure to get a good one to begin with and dont' get a cheap light "for just right now".

New to nano, 10 gallon setup?

I have the 2x40 current orbit fixture and I love it. Very nice, the only complaint I would have is the fans are a bit noisy. I just may end up gutting it and putting it in a canopy with 120mm ball bearing fans.

    Newcomer from AZ

Accuracy and quality of build if I'm not mistaken. They use a prism and mirrors to break light apart blah blah etc etc.. here's a link. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm ... cleid=3458 If you want ulitmate accuracy go for the floating hydrometer thingy. Convience and darn good...

HI all...im new here and to nano's!

If you haven't bought your tank you might consider getting a 20 gallon long instead of the 10g. It will allow another fish or two and give them swimming room. Don't bother with coral just yet if you are on a budget and you should be able to get a very nice fish only with live rock (FOWLR) tank...
