    Lights for 2.5 gallon

Yep, it is really just a type of sump. I have done a simalar thing here http://www.nanotank.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6157 on my 2.5 pico, but insteat of having a separate tank, I have incorporated it into the one system. Over here in Australia, most people use this type of set up...

    brown jelly

syphon off as much of the gunk as you can then direct lots of flow at the coral. It may die anyway, but you can only try. be sure that it is actually brown jelly and not just the coral expelling zooanthellae as a result of stress. If it is stringy and brown it is zoo.

    Lights for 2.5 gallon

Xenia can die suddenly from all sorts of things. Best thing to do is keep and eye on it and don't hesitate to get it out of there if it does not improve because it can damage your other corals. I lost a xenia after transferring it to another tank and then lost most of the other corals in...

    RUBBLES

sounds like a fantastic idea. Much better that bio balls or noodles! The live rock breaks really easily so you will only need a small hammer and a screwdriver or chisel.

    Anemone?

Now I know how people with cateracts feel! Anyway I think it is a type of tube anemone. Very similar to the waratah anemone. Check out this link http://www.divingthegoldcoast.com.au/in ... terID=1133 I have had one of these in my tank for a few years. It lives in a dark spot. They...

Replacement fans on a jbj 12 deluxe!

    Lots of people use cpu fans to cool their tank. The trick is to use the correct adapter to get the correct amperage to the fan. I am no whiz on the electrics so can't give you a better answer than that. Maybe do a forum search, it sounds like a common topic;

    nitrates

Nitrates at 0 is quite an achievement. Most people accept anything up to 20ppm. I used to run at 20ppm before adding another square foot of 6 inch DSB. That put me down to 10ppm. I sold or gave away all of my fish and CBS last week so I can concentrate on my corals for a few months...

    Got my tank and stand!

Great! It's awsome to see corals growing in your tank. My best is my Duncan. Bought it with 7 polyps, now I have 14!. They are really small but it's great to see. I have lots of trouble keeping up my Ca. The LPS corals seem to use up tons of the stuff when they are growing. As I am using a...

    Finally put my tank together...

That is a waratah anemone. Very common in rock pools ect. They go sort of ok in reef tanks. If you collected it below the waterline at LOW tide, it should be ok, If it was high and dry when you collected it, it will need to be out of the water for some time during the day, like low tide and...

    Got my tank and stand!

Uncured means that it is new from the ocean. Lots of sponges and other critters will die causing amonia/nitrate spike. Cured rock means that it has been sitting in the LFS for a long time. Get the uncured stuff for your cycle. I personally wouldn't bother with live sand. You can get...

    Got my tank and stand!

Using a 'throw away' fish is a bit of an outdated method of cycling a tank. You add the live rock at the start. There will be enough life on the liverock that will die off and start the amonia/nitrate cycle. The cycle will take 4-6 weeks (if you do things right and don't add fish or corals...

 You're nuts :!: compared to you, we are a bunch of pansies over here. We are in 3mm spring suits as soon as the water hits 20celcius.

    Anemone Pico Reef 2.5

Hi Jordan, Don't know if you will get an answer there, post is 3 year old. I don't know the fate of this tank but I would strongly advise you NOT to add an anemone into a tank that is less than a year old. Anemones need extremely stable conditioins and excellent lighting to survive...

    The place where you live

Hey Tim, google Earth'd Pingree Grove. Man you are land locked! Well done for puttin such great tanks together that far away from the ocean. Dag, Sounds great. My Missus wants to live in NYC. We have been there a couple of times. That water is WAY to cold for a sub-tropical animal like me...

    The place where you live

Thought I would start a thread that anyone can contribute to that 'shows off' thier home town, favorite holiday spot, local attractions ect. Since we are all from very different parts of the world, I thought it would be interesting for everyone. I'll start. I, like a lot of the new...
