    Water Flow Question

I don't feed pellets, so I can't really give you any advice with that. Mine eats, cyclopeeze, flake, brine, mysis, krilly, etc... B

    Considering option

Not unless you upgrade the light on it. I've got LPS and softies in my 6g nano. It's running a 32w 50/50 pc bulb. I'd shoot for something like one of these. http://innovativelights.com/pfo-71090.html http://hellolights.com/14nanretkit.html http://www.championlighting.com/product...

    Considering option

The 6g cubes, even the modded ones don't have enough light for clams or anemones. As long as you keep the hood over it, there simply isn't a way to cram enough PC lamps over it to make it work. You could build a taller custom top for the tank itself and put a 70w MH light over it, and it would...

    Anemone

Yep, they'll all move. Sebaes are more sensitive than BTAs. I wouldn't try ANY anemones until you're tank has been up for at least six months. This gives the tank time to mature/stabilize, and you plenty of time to research anemones requirements. :-) B

    Water Flow Question

Mine have been very easy. They've eaten everything I put in the tank, and get along with anyone that isn't the same species. Gobies are one of the largest classification of fish in the hobby, so no, not all gobies are captive bred. However the red-headed ones are among the ones that have...

    Auto Top-Off Questions

It depends on the size of the pico. If you're talking a 2g tank then I'd probably go with a float switch, if you're talking a .75g, then I'd probably go with the gravity version, cause I wouldn't want the float switch taking up space. I think that they're about the same as far as reliability...

    skimmer

I think the price is good for a skimmer that size. Will the powerhead fit in the 2g? B

    skimmer

I don't know anything about these skimmers...It's unlikely to hurt anything, but I don't know if they're as effective as similar sized/style ones by other companies. B

    what do you think...

They're the wrong wavelength for reeftanks. They've also got a non-standard base that may cause you problems, both in wiring them up to begin with, and then finding the replacement bulbs later. This is more along the lines of what you need. http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_ ...

    brain feeding

Yep the hood method works great if your aquascaping allows it. Somehow I've never really managed it. I target feed with a turkey baster. Another method I like, (but haven't really done much of), is using a syringe connected to some flexible and rigid airline tubing. It allows you to be very...

    Sun Coral

Just order it online. The freeze-dried is nice cause it doesn't take up any room in your frig/freezer. I've used both the frozen and the freeze-dried and haven't noticed any differences. The smaller particles seem a bit easier to target feed to the smaller polyps of the sun corals. I use a...

Ah. You might ask around on reefcentral to see if there's a store that other reefers in your area trust. If not then just go ahead and go the RO/DI route and go with any of the major brands of salt. Salt is one of those areas that opinions differ greatly on. I've only used Kent, and Crystal...

Advice Needed For Complete Beginner !!!!

20g tank is a good size. I don't use heaters. So I can't comment Marineland powerhead. Seems large for the output, but I haven't seen them in person. Lighting is determined by what types of corals you want to keep. The three major types are LPS, SPS, Softies. Very generally SPS...

    zoo question

Anything can have too much light. Even the really light-hungry corals and critters don't tolerate sudden large increases in light well. B

    brain feeding

Most brains like meaty foods. Target feeding cyclopeeze, mysis, enriched brine, etc... would be a good idea. B

I use crystal seas bioassay salt. But if you're doing a nano or pic tank. It's generally easier and more convenient to just go buy salt water and RO/DI top-off water at the LFS. If you're going to have larger tanks then having an RO/DI unit at home and making up your own saltwater makes...

Advice Needed For Complete Beginner !!!!

The nanocubes come in 6g, 12g, and 24g. There have been lots of reports of failures with the 24g ones lately. Personally I'd stay away from that one for awhile. Here's the website for more info on them. http://www.jbjnanocube.com/ Oceanic makes a 30g cube that's a nice size/shape...

    Water Flow Question

That may be what it says on marine depot, but I've never seen one beyond 2.5in. Most of the ones I see available in the stores are about an inch or less. I've had mine for over nine months and it hasn't grown more than 1/8in. B
