You'll probably need another PH or two. I've got a modified skilter on my 6g at work, and it's a very low flow tank. I think you'll need more flow in a 10g. I'd start with one small one and see if that's doing the trick. If not it's easy to add another one. B

I've never done one until the levels zeroed out. Even then I didn't do the first water change until I'd had fish and corals in there for a bit. B

That sounds like it should be fine. I generally test about once a week during the cycle period, but I know people that test daily. It's pretty much personal preference. B
