Jesse's 20L+20L fuge...

Just wanted to update on the progress of my tank.

I went to Wal-Mart and got a 65 watt PC floodlight for my fuge... it cost $10 total!!

I also replaced the filter sock and removed ALL the food and chemicals that I used to keep underneath. I read an article by Calfo I believe about the factors of humidity, light and heat on the nutritional value of foods... it can cause a rapid degredation on nutrients. So i went and bought a new thing of fish food and now store it in my fridge. MY last container was....*cough*... a year or two or three old.

Here are the NEW pictures of my sump along with a full system shot...

This is what the bulb looks like..

And the full system...

Thanks for checking it out!

Well I was only going to post pictures of my NEW zoas...

BUT, that was before I "discovered" a "new" setting on my camera! It is an ultra close-up setting... one that I should have known about a LONG time ago!

Here are some pictures... first, my new "fire-n-ice"...

Next is what I believe to be trumpets that I just got from Edgray...

A new pic of the frag from Proraptor...

My candy canes...

A closeup of my goby...

And finally the one that I was most impressed by... my yellow polyps...

Hope you like!

After I read through the link, this is the mode that I "discovered" that allowed the good macros... "6cm Super Macro mode"

What I think is most impressive with this camera is the amount of options when it comes to shooting modes... there are somthing like 25 preset modes.

Well on my Pentax S5i there is a setting called the "6cm super macro setting". It is for taking close-ups of objects within somewhere like 4"-12" of the lense. Thanks alot for the comments guys... I am really proud of some of those shots.

Not really any updates... mainly just new ideas. I made a little DIY tray for my sump and incorporated a bag of Purigen into my system... this is the first attemt at chemical filtration since I have had a reef tank. I will post pics tonight.

I am looking into some different options with the lighting as well. I love the MH, but I really want a canopy for this tank. I am tired of the pendant look. I would also like some more "pop" from my corals so I will most likely end up with a 4x24 watt Tek light T-5 HO system over this tank... sooner or later. I am seeing if anyone over on rc.com is interested in a lighting trade. If that doesnt work out, I will have to just save up a little and sell the MH in order to buy a new Tek system.

I am working on getting some new LR as well. My brother-n-law has a nanocube that has literally rotted away, so I am going to ask him if I can buy the LR off of him. He has some pretty cool shapes, mostly thick shelf sort of LR.

That is about it for now. Thanks for the kind comment!
