I am so happy to hear that they are so willing to take the extra step to make sure that you are happy with their product instead of just worrying about making a sale. I have always admired their tanks but there is no one in my area that stocks acrylic tanks. I guess they just are not as popular over here on the east coast. Maybe next weekend when I am in Atlanta I'll come across someone that carries something unusal that catches my eye.

What a sweet project you have been putting together Mike. I had missed this thread in the "Nano – 20 and under" section, and it has kept me entertained for a while reading the first page. I love the style of Tru-Vu aquariums, and how versatile this tank really is. Thumb up for the equipment choice.

Now let me go back and finish reading the rest of the pages…
THIS IS GREAT!!!

Reefers,

I've asked around about what type of filtration I should put in place of the bio balls...

After a lot of debate, I went with Chemipure at the bottom followed by PolyFilter on top, then Phosguard, then a few bioballs to distribute the flow of water and then small strip of DLS followed by two coatings of 50 micron filter...

I let the tank run one full day and I am really amazed how crystal clear the water has become, here are the photos to share...

very nice mike
that skimmer sure seems to be working
hows the tank temp doing, is the built in fan going to handle it or do you think you'll have to add a hang on one too???
have you decided on corals yet - you have a lot of rock in there, so you won't be able to fit many - my suggestion FWIW.......there are a lot of beautiful encrusting monti frags showing up out there these days - some are VERY expensive but since you won't need many.....maybe a sunset or superman?? i can't afford them myself but just a thought..... :)
great tank!!!

I think your filtration choices are great, the clarity of the water confirms that. Every time I see pics of this tank I think about how well everything looks together, almost like each piece of equipment was made just for this tank.

Guys,

Thanks for the nice comments....

Regarding what I will place in there is still a mystery, it won't be any frag LPS, I'll tell you that, since I have zero room form expansion...

I'm thinking small SPS frags that can grow and later go into my 72 reef if they take off...

I'm in love with Blastos and Acans and small blue maxima or crocea clams....

You'll be amazed what goes in, since it's very little real estate it will be dramatic what we see...

Regarding temps, they are super high with the lights on, and the weather is not helping any... But that was expected from the beginning, I have on order the worlds SMALLEST CHILLER ON ORDER.....

More to come....

came on real quick to say nice job. Good to see you keep busy. How's Nadia doing? She doing better?

I see from reading you can make a business out of the tanks you build huh? I'm sure Nadia wouldn't mind you doing that as long as you turn a profit :)

Tell her I said Hi. Later brother.

anything new mike?
And she continues to evolve. Today I went and purchased the JBJ ATO, with 2 gallon jug, MaxiJet 600 and 8 ft of tubing. Since I already own a JBJ ATO for my 72 gallon reef this setup was easy...

However, as easy as it was to install when I fired it up I had water back flowing to my reservoir and spilling all over my wifes shoes...

I disconnected everything and ran to clean up my mess, trying not to let her see my disaster; apparently I forgot that back flowing occurs when the pump shuts off if the hose is submerged into the tank...

I had the hose half way down the tank so it wanted to empty half of my 6 gallon tank into a 2 gallon reservoir. End result was overflow rushing into the closet. After I cleaned everything thoroughly it was time to face the music with the wife...

I bargined with my wife for her space in the closet next to my tank; otherwise I couldn't keep the reservoir out of sight and you know I love the clean look...

So after she gave me my precious real estate of her closet space I fired the ATO back on, this time making sure the hose doesn't enter the water so no back flowing can occur, and presto she runs flawless...

Here are the pictures of my setup:

When you add more equipment like that, it can REALLY make a tank more stable and muh easier to run. Great work mike, keep it up!

hey that setup looks familiar with that ATO and reservoir I have, lol.

(mike setup mine, when he was down visiting me last)

I have that same container from Target, makes as a great reservoir. Only difference is I am using regular aquarium tubing and the aqualifter to pump water back in. Works like a charm.

I did find that when you buy the ATO, you have to open it up to adjust the timeout, because by default it has it on a few minutes, and since the aqualifter does it slow, sometimes it would time out. Now I dont have that issue anymore :p

Nicely done! Simple and clean. Any livestock yet? Dude, how many tanks do have?
Thanks,

I only have two tanks; both are reef with fish. My 6 gallon is on hold since we are in the process of moving.

I almost got rid of it since the purchase of the new home has drained me completely but then thought against it since I know in the future I will want a nano tank.

So for now it is just waiting to be transfered to my new place.

Two more weeks to go and the move will begin if Escrow doesn't fall through...
