    Loopy Clownfish Just Died

Hmmm, these fish do have weird swimming habits, but sounds like his swim bladder was affected perhaps. The gasping indicates some sort of stress... What's the volume of this system? Other clown doing OK I assume? I had to block the back chambers to my tank as well because my pearly jaw...

    fishies

Yeah I was going to go for tank raised ocellaris clowns (onyx coloration). I am concerned my more docile fish (pearly and clown goby) will be out competed by a pair of clowns though. It sounds silly...but is it ok to just have one clown then? I know some fish do better in pairs and schools, I...

    Got my tank and stand!

That's a good idea! Cause I am sick of fixing the foam every time I open the lid. I was concerned that blocking the space to the back chambers might affect airflow, in turn tank parameters. You just slice the tubing lengthwise to stick onto the back...any diameter suggestions? :) Here are...

    starting a new 20L

Awesome! That clown sure looks happy! :)

    brown jelly

Eek, not good. Carefully siphon off what you can. Isolate this coral if possible, as there may be a chance other corals can get this if they are stressed or weak. Freshwater iodine dips may help... And of course, make sure water quality is optimal. Best of luck~ :bash1:

    24g aquapod

Wise move, go slow...especially since you just moved the system and there's fishies in it. :bash1: Cute setup! Get that algae outta there! :)

    34 liter waratah anemone tank

Have never seen this before! Beautiful! I think "pest" is just a label, in this tank, you're right, should be very attractive! :)

    Got my tank and stand!

The one head finally gave up last night, I siphoned out what I could. There are still some parts left that'll probably be taken up by the flow it's near. I just didn't want anything rotting or worse yet infectious floating around the tank. The coral itself doesn't seem to want to take in food...

    Got my tank and stand!

I'm glad my tank is inspiring! lol. Not quite done yet. I'm slowing down a bit with stocking, want it to stabilize a bit more. The branching hammer that had the edge of it's skeleton chipped on one head from being bagged incorrectly is deteriorating--just that one head so far. Unfortunately...

    fishies

So I know less fish is better...I have a pearly and a purple firefish. Both are getting along great and feed out in the open together peacefully. For the pearly's sake, I need to make sure I get pretty peaceful fish. I was thinking about two (I feel bad keeping just one clown) clown fish...

    The place where you live

I live in Tampa, FL, city of champions. We have the longest continuous sidewalk in the world along Bayshore Drive which is on the water. 4th largest metropolitan area in the southeast. We have lots of outdoor recreation, art, and a diversity of dining. Beaches all over the place and of...

    additives for corals

I use the same that Tim does! (2 part b ionic) It has worked great. Corals that should have been questionable in surviving, have actually thrived and made strides in my tank. Although it is relatively new! :bash1:

    Got my tank and stand!

Thanks! Wouldn't have gotten there without y'alls advice! Yeah, and $10 is pretty dirt cheap, at least around here it is, try usually at least $30 a frag is what I find in my area. It's like cockatoos, aren't they like your pests there, lol? Here they are quite the pretty penny! Supply...

    Got my tank and stand!

:bash1: Yeah, so lots has changed this past week, including a major overhaul on the aquascaping. I figured I could maximize lighting the coral receives if...duh...they are able to sit right under them. Lots of pics as usual: Fish #2, purple firefish goby. "Who the heck is that?!," says...

    aquapod 24g

Yup, I use chaetomorpha on top of my live rock in chamber 2. I did notice it does receive some ambient light from my lighting fixture but I did supplement a submersible LED just in case. :) I've had it for...what...over a month now, and it appears fine. :bash1: Welcome!

what to put in the filter?

Personally I favor the Polyfilter pad over carbon, removes many impurities from the water including phosphates. The con is that it can remove things you dose; however, I do frequent water changes (won't remove elements from salt mix). If I dose, I just turn off the sump flow for a bit and let...

    blasto swollen...?

Interesting, is one method more common than the other? I was told that blastos reproduce so slowly. I've only had this guy a month! I do feed often, mini mysis and cyclops...phyto enriched. That dendrophyllia in the background is a piggy and eats everyday, as it should from what I as told...

My 10G Hexagon LED powered reef

Wow those LED's sure are purty! How many fishies do you have in there? I have one and I"m scared to add another in my 24 this soon, lol. :bash1:

    JBJ Nanocube DX

What's that saying...pretty but deadly or something like that, lol. I'd be hysterical if I found one of those in my tank. I respect you for sparing it's life, lol. :bash1:

    blasto swollen...?

:bash1: it's to the left of the blasto's head...hope ya can see it. I noticed tonight it had little tentacles. I always thought LPS developed like two mouths, then slowly split that way. Is it a baby or is something weird going on here, lol?
