Ive heard of people wanting to set these up as reef, is that what you mean? if so, the main problem would be lighting them, IMO. Also, there is virtually no surface area for O2 exchange. wonder what the others think.

    MH 14,000k/ 50/50 PC question...

Nice work. It would be easy to hang the canopy that i am currently constructing. Here is a link to it ---> http://www.nanotank.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2185 . I now have it primed and painted black to match the tank/stand. I am also almost complete with fabricating the reflectors for both...

    What filtration would you prefer...?

I dont currently test for traces... however i only add less than 1/4 teaspoon, usually around 1/8 teaspoon, once a week. this is half of what most of them instruct, which is usually 1 tsp per 50 gallons. once per week. some are even 1 to 2 times a week, and i only dose them once a week. are...

    MH 14,000k/ 50/50 PC question...

Sounds good! As far as raising and lowering, I dont know if i will be able to do that....im in the process of (almost finished with) the canopy and i planned on having it stand above the tank. However, i am interested still in hanging it because i like the ease of raising it out of the way to...

    What filtration would you prefer...?

skip, just curious, have you tried Purigen? i personally have not, but it claims to, "control ammonia, nitrites and nitrates by removing nitrogenous organic waste that would otherwise release these harmful compounds. Purigen’s™ impact on trace elements is minimal. It significantly raises...

    What filtration would you prefer...?

    What filtration would you prefer...?

I am interested in hearing what sort of filtration you all would prefer to have on your tank. My tank is 20" wide and my stand doesnt have the capabilty of hiding a sump/fuge in it, so it would all need to be HOB. I currently have a bak pak 2r as my only source of filtration. So, if you...

    equipment questions

as far as skimmer go, the best one that i have heard of is the aqua-c remora. it is a bit pricy, but you really do get what you pay for. i have the bak pak 2r, it works well, not too noisy, occasionally have a small problem with bubbles entering the aquarium. i dont personally have experience...

i like and use the visi-therm stealth...it is fully submursible and is made of plastic so you can hide it behind your LR or put it anywhere else and you dont have to worry about it breaking. Here is a link to it -----> http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/P ... 004+113767

yes joes juice for sure. that stuff is the best. Kalkwasser and things like that can cause fluctuations in pH, especially in a nano.

the water level should not be visible from the outside of the tank, it should be above the bottom of the top plastic support. As far as the jager, i think there is a line for a MAXIMUM water level, because I dont think it is fully submersible, right? Im not very familiar with those, sorry.

yeh, i noticed a potential problem with having him on the sand bed, and that is occasionally sand will end up on him. can that cause the tissue recession? also the crazy nassarius snails burrow under him and move him around!
