Journal for new canopy to house MH retro...

just about done. All i have left is to get two proper sized screws to mount the MH fixture directly to the canopy....also, i am reconsidering the hanging of the canopy thing after seeing the canopy sitting on top of the tank. I may put it on short feet or just sit it right on top of the tank...

Fish for a small Nano tank

I think that filter may be a good choice. Remember that with the Catalina goby you will probably need a chiller due to the fact that they are from cooler waters...they arent tropical. I think that 67 to 72 degrees is suitable for them, up to about 74.

Journal for new canopy to house MH retro...

I was thinking about mounting the PC ballasts to the outside of that rear support.. I dont want to have to modify the wiring in the existing satellite fixture which is designed to have the ballasts in the fixture. Do you think this will work? or should i just modify the wiring so that i can...

Journal for new canopy to house MH retro...

Figured I hadn't posted in a while...not much done since last post. I have painted it and the custom reflectors should be done by tomorrow. I redesigned the first custom MH reflector previously posted and also designed reflectors for the PC's (basically a copy of AH supply's PC reflector, I...

What the hell is going on ??

I would second or third, or whatever, the Coralife 96 watt. Looks like a good fixture and that is the best price on the net right now, especially with that extra bulb....i definetly wouldnt pass off that extra bulb special if you do go with this fixture. Just so you know, i think that would...

Fish for a small Nano tank

I personally wouldn't put any fish in something that small. But if you really wanted to, i think something like a clown goby, maybe a baby clown (ive seen that before), yeh maybe some of the smaller gobies. I think some of the others can be a little better help. Just make sure if you do...

    What filtration would you prefer...?

...However, what I am considering is adding a small power filter in which I will add the surface skimmer retro, have a sponge that I would clean 2 to 3 times a week, some purigen to handle the surface protiens that would be skimmed, and that is about it. As of right now I have no mechanical...

    What filtration would you prefer...?

There are a couple of things about those AC converts, though. Firstly, if i DO keep the skimmer, then I am left with only about 11" on the back in which to hang a filter. The other, especially with one that'll fit that small of an opening, is the effectiveness of them. We will see, maybe I...

need advice on what to buy...

Sure, two 2x96 may work, but that would take up quite a bit a space and also you are looking at spending as much as you would on a MH fixture, at least $500. If you are going to, or are willing to spend that kind of money, why not just get a MH fixture? Drsfostersmith.com is selling the 36"...
