    Edgray's 12 Nano Cube

Sadie, about the flow...you must understand the "proper flow" that Calfo is talking about. It isnt the typical 4x-10x flow suggested by most hobbyists. He is talking about anywhere from 20x per hour for low flow corals to 40x-60x turnover for higher flow corals (acros, etc.). Now if you...

    Edgray's 12 Nano Cube

Eddie and I discussed the topic of 100% water changes today during our meeting. I was introduced to the idea by several articles by some of the articles from the experts at RC.com as well as marinedepot.com/forums (which is where many of the "experts" from RC.com moved to) and it seems like a...

    Rock Question

I agree with Andre...you may want to scrub the rock with a bristle brush or a toothbrush in some saltwater. This wont damage any existing coraline. and also make sure there is plenty of circulation in your tank as well...around 20X turnover. Jesse And welcome to nanotank!

    More questions...filtering this time..

Are you reffering to the foam blocks? If so, I would suggest cleaning them at least 2x per week. If you dont, the wastes will break down and release nitrates into the system...not good. As far as these small white thingies, they could be microbubbles from the filtration. Sometimes small...

    PUMPS AND FLOW

I am a firm believer in the fact that you CANNOT have TOO MUCH flow in a reef tank... if the flow is well distributed, that is. If you are using the stock maxi-jet 1200 pump from the Seaclone 100, then that is around 300 gph...pair that up with the flow from the skilter (around 200-250 gph)...

    Lighting ...witll this work

Try running two of the 50/50's and a true actinic in between. I have two 40 watt 50/50's on my tank and they are pretty nice. I imagine if i added an actinic it would look pretty blue. Jesse

    Quarantine Tank?

Definitely NO sand in a QT...parasites and such can live in it. Really, nothing that is not easily sanitized should be placed in a QT. Aromano's pic is perfect....only use materials such as PVC or ABS that can be bleached. It is always a good idea to use a sponge filter in your sump(if you...

    Not cycling... good or bad?

Actually, SALINITY should be around 30 to 32. SPECIFIC GRAVITY should be 1.022 to 1.025. Jesse

    Lighting ...witll this work

I think that the current configuration is better for your corals. the actinics arent as intense, but they have their benefits. How many watts are the bulbs? What size is your tank. What kind of corals are you housing? And welcome to nanotank...you'll love it here. Jesse

Aqua traders stay away !! warning

Actually, I researched it a little bit and turns out that the LFS is actually called Seaside (it is like 1.5 miles from the beach) and I shop there all the time. The store actually is small and not a good selection at all. Good prices, however, especially on their drygoods. I never knew that...
