Cramming two fish in a 4 gallon can cause unusual behaviors. I would get rid of one of the two fish. Jesse

The 1" overflow is plenty for that sort of flow. You may want to consider a bigger fuge if at all possible...say a 15 gallon or even a 20L if it'll fit. I would skip the sand bed in the refugium...everyone I know of that put sand in their fuge regretted it. Instead, try a RDSB...that is, a 5...

The major difference with the HOB filters versus, say, the HOT magnum is that you are generally getting a higher rate of flow...(250 GPH with the HOT Magnum), with no-bypass filtration. This means that 100% of the water is being forced through the filtration media. Jesse

I have to agree with this... I am not a huge fan of the cubes, nor would I ever own one (unless the price was right ;-)), because you are stuck with what you buy to a certain extent. If you go with a 20 gallon standard... or better yet a 20 long (IMO and IME), then you have much more...
