    Pink Zoos

Sweet....Did you pick them up at City Pets? I heard they had some nice pink zoos, but by the time I got over there they only had 2 little frags. One was $20 and had 5 polyps on it....I skipped that one and bought the one that had 2 polyps for $5.

    Whats a nano?

<SLAP!> Stop confusing the newbies... djconn has posted here and here that for this board the definition is 20gal and less, even though we all know that there isn't any hard rule as to what is a nano tank. That doesn't mean that your input/pics ect... isn't welcome...

Open brain coral injury - help

I'd add some iodine to the tank, and make sure that the brain has plenty of flow over it. I wouldn't move it because changing the light it's getting will just be more stress on it. I don't know of anything else you can really do. The fact that it's opened back up is encouraging, now you just...

20G tank what do u guys think?

It just depends on the system and the fish involved. None of the fish he has require a lot of swimming space. Most of them are not particularly territorial either, with the exception of the tomato clown. I would keep an close eye on that one though. If his water parameters stay healthy and...

October Photo Contest – Vote for the Winner

I'm impressed with the pics as well. Everyone did a good job. I'm not as impressed with the small number of people voting...You'd think this was a presidential race. :P

    Moonlight effects

Very nice pictures BTW. It's extremely difficult to get the cameras to focus that well in low light. Good job. I can't wait to get my canopies finished so that I can put the moonlights in them.

    Possible 5.5g Refugium

Can you get the tanks level? Or get the 5 gal slightly higher than the 10? If you can do either you can just baffle the 5 however you like, put a powerhead in the 10 that pumps water into the 5 then use an overflow box to drop the water back into the 10.

    New Frogspawn

That's what I've seen it labeled in many of the stores...In fact they usually just label it octopus, which can lead you to look all around that tank for an octopus. I'm sure there's a more scientific name that denotes which one it is, but I haven't a clue what it is.

    New Frogspawn

I've got a couple pieces of regular frogspawn and love it, I finally managed to find a decent priced piece of the octopus frogspawn and snatched it up. The color looks pretty close to yours. I'm hoping to find some more of this variety with a different color morph.

There isn't any soldering involved. Just splice it in and tape it back up. There's a couple reasons to use 2 switches. One you want both of them to have to drop in order to turn the pump on. (guards against craps or snails hanging on them and turning them on, also in case one floats but due...

If you would prefer not to use floatswitches, here's a link for one that doesn't use them. http://home.att.net/~s-pawlowskis/topoff.htm Here's the thread I got the link from. http://marshreef.com/modules.php?name=F ... pic&t=3649 There's a couple good suggestions in it, namely using...

You can also buy floatswitches from here. http://www.floatswitches.net/floatswitch.html Go to the dollar store and buy a cheap extension cord. Wire it up yourself by separating the wires on the cord, cut one side, strip the wires back far enough to eire up the leads from the switch, tape...

    Colorless at night?

I think Sugar Magnolia got it right. Here's an article on halimeda, where it describes the color shifting due to chloroplast migration. Even though your algae is a different variety it's probably normal like it is with halimeda. http://www.globaldialog.com/~jrice/alga ... limeda.htm

    Salinity Level...Why Differing Opinions?

If you're doing a reef tank, 1.025 is the widely accepted goal. If you're doing a fish only, (FO), or fish only with live rock, (FOWL), tank then going down to 1.019-1.021 will save you money by using less salt, and the lower salinity is hard on some parasites so the fish don't gennerally...

Photo Contest - Enter to win a float switch & gift cert!

The middle pic is a tuxedo urchin. They like to pick up stuff and 'camoflage' themselves. It's been carrying this little strip of star polyps around for about 3 weeks. Doesn't seem to bother the polyps at all. Looks like an easter bonnet to me. Thanks for the compliment. I...

    Sexy shrimp looking well...sexy

Here's the best pic I've managed to get of any of the sexy shrimp I have or have had. I got a couple cool shots of the new baby rose BTA. I got it nearly a month ago from a friend that had his split. It's looked like hell ever since I got it and just in the last couple days started looking...
