    My living room.

Yep that's a dwarf lion. I've had him about 6-7 months. I've been careful about what I put in a tank with him. Nothing small enough for him to fit in his mouth has been kept in a tank with him. At one point I had another fuzzy dwarf with him, as well as a lawnmower blenny, and a bluespot...

Modding an aquaclear500 for use as refugium

Has anyone done this? Were you happy with the results? Did you have any problems or suggestions you'd like to pass on? I've read through a few threads on nano-reef.com. It seems that most people don't really have any issues and if you hook up the surface skimmer attachment, and put in your...

Pics of my new, (to me), office tank.

That sounds very cool. My wife set up a 10gal tank that she wants to be mostly a zoo tank. She found a baby pipefish at the LFS and it's been happily running around the tank. I tried to take pics of it last night, but it's very shy, and I didn't have time to be persistent with it. I'll...

    My living room.

It's funny how much more striking the tanks are now. We moved from a huge loft-style apartment, and these tanks were in our bedroom which was 25'x30' into a small house, and the tanks are in a room that is like 13'x19' or so. They shrimp are harlequin shimp. They feed exclusively on the...

Pics of my new, (to me), office tank.

 This is my bosses old tank. Yep it's a 7gal tank. I just realized I have this thread in the wrong forum. :D Wanna move it over in to the under 10 forum for me? My boss got a bigger office, so he got an 18gal half round tank, and gave me this one to play with. He had black...

    Fish?

In a 15 you've got enough room to have a variety of fish that will do well in it. Nearly any clown. Most gobies or blennies, as long as they're not the sand-sifting varieties. Maybe a six-line wrasse. A basslet, or dottyback would work. If you have some ideas of the fish you are interested...

A couple views of my livingroom. Can you tell we're not anywhere near unpacked yet? :P The newest addition to my 25gal Here's another couple shots of the 25gal

Pics of my new, (to me), office tank.

I took these last night. It'll probably be another week or two before I manage to put anything in this so it'll look a little more interesting. I had just finished cleaning it out. So the skimmer was flipping out a bit there's not normally all the bubbles in the tank.

    Algea

I hope it helps. If neither of these things helps clear it up, try getting your water tested at another LFS. After fighting a PH issue for several weeks I went to one of my LFS and had them test my water, and they told me my water was fine. I was relieved, but things still...

    Good movies

We rented 'Dogville' with Nicole Kidman last night. It was a very different movie. Not what I was expecting at all. I really liked it, but was surprised how different it was from what I expected. If you haven't seen it, it's probably the least visual movie I've ever seen. It really focused...

    Critter die-off...?

Another big factor in a tank that small is temp swings. Do you have a heater to help keep the temp stable? My boss, had a 7gal bowfront at work and kept having problems with fish dying off. All his inverts and corals were fine, but every fish he put in it would last a few days and then die...

    Algea

Memphis, Have you added any powerheads to the tank? How long do you leave the lights on? Some types of algae blooms seem to be caused by lack of water movement. I assumed that because it was a new tank it was probably just the normal blooms that people experience during the break-in cycle...

    Algea

Yep just leave the lights off for the cycle period....Which depends on how the system is set up, and how cured the liverock is. Some people's tanks seem to cycle very slowly, some pretty quickly. Mine cycled in about 2 weeks the first time. I put in a couple damsels and kept the lights off...

    Algea

You're probably in the middle of your cycle still. What are your water params? Leaving the lights off competely for the length of the cycle helps to keep algae blooms from happening.

    Good movies

I saw Hero several months ago on DVD. (It's been out for quite awhile in China, was supposed to be released here nearly 6months ago) It's a very beautiful movie, extremely visual. I'm definitely planning on going to see it in the theater.

    Fluidized Beds

My boss uses on on his 180gal predator tank. He really seems to like it. Very cheap add on for filtration.

It would still be handy to have the ball valves. That way during maintenance you could turn the pump off. Shut the ball valves, and your sump wouldn't be as full of water when you're tryin to detach the pump/lines whatever. When you're talking about plumbing pieces they are some of the most...

    Fan question for you

I just used a hole saw and cut holes in the sides of my stand and am planning on putting in large computer fans in it to replace the clip-on ones that took up so much space under there. Of course my stand doesn't look nearly as nice as yours. :D But you could do the same thing at the top of...

    Fan question for you

It seems like it would do the trick. If you go over there, ask them to power up the fans before you buy them, they can do it, and it's nice to check to see how noisy they are. My buddy had to cut 2 fans back out of his hood after he'd siliconed them in because they were really noisy with his...
