    Mechanical Filtration vs Nitrate

Flatworms are just a type of pest. They generally didn't seem to really hurt anything, although they can be toxic when they die. I bought some mushrooms from another hobbyist that was getting out of the hobby, and before long all my mushrooms had these little reddish-brown spots all over them...

    Mechanical Filtration vs Nitrate

Seems like a good idea to me. I've got one hanging off the front of the octo tank right now. I dosed the tanks with flatworm exit a while back, and the magnum is the easiet way for me to run extra carbon for awhile. I'd gotten it from a friend when he moved and hadn't ever used it. I was...

    Some pics from last night.

Thanks for the compliments Mike. I've got an olympus c-5050. About 4 months ago I decided to stop taking pics with everything on auto. I poked around on the web for hints and tips. While I found a few sites that helped, by far the site that's been the best resource is one that was put up...

Houston frag swap Saturday Dec. 18th

I'll hopefully be finishing the canopy/lights for my 75 that day, so I won't be able to make it to the frag trade. I hope you get some good stuff.

will a 7 watt daylight be ok in a .75 gallon for softies?

This is taken from another post of mine from earlier. This will work for your 5g tank fairly well. For a .75 gal tank all your corals will be very small frags anyway so I'd try to do the same just on a smaller scale. Now let's talk about acclimation procedures....Lots of folks make the...

    Reef Starter Kit...

Water changes will add a bit of the trace elements you want, but unfortunately the balances of the elements differ from brand to brand, and in some cases from batch to batch. You should definitely be testing for calcium and ph. Which will help you to determine how much calcium and buffer to...

Pic of the week --- Mushrooms

Let's see pics of your mushrooms. Most of us have them so this should be an easy one. Try to keep the files 450x600 or smaller.

will a 7 watt daylight be ok in a .75 gallon for softies?

Re: I want to do that too The light they come with is 7w. In order to upgrade it to 13w you'd have to buy a new clip-on light.

I think your pics look nice and sharp. Good job. I like the look of your tank. What's the cylinder in the back? Is it a thermometer?

    I bought a .75 like Karita!!!

Re: Thanks incysor Yep, can't warm the water up or the catalina will definitely not make it, and I agree that there's a very good chance that your pseudos will kill the gobies if you move them. You could at least move the polyps if you think the colder temp is affecting them.
