    New canopy.

It's even more ridiculous when you've actually been there and see that the whole house is only about 900sq ft. I guess that's what happens when both you AND your wife get addicted to the hobby. B

    New canopy.

Here's some pics of the new canopy over the 75. Eventually there will be one on the 40 that matches it. I'm not running the MH yet. I'm only running the VHO's about 4hrs a day for the next week or so, then I'll move it up to 6hrs, then 8hrs. Once I get it to 8hrs I'll start in with the MH on...

So move it. Did you epoxy it in place or something? B

    fuzzy dark purple growth?

Hard to say without a pic, but the word fuzzy makes me think sponge. Of course it could just be a macro algae that's in an early stage of growth that I've never seen. Also coraline comes in a few different forms. Pics, pics, pics.... B

Electric Blue Hermit Crab (dead or alive??)

15 in a 37 is too many? I've probably got a couple hundred in my main system. Of course they're all the little mini blue leg ones. I need to throw some more in my predator tank. I probably have 5-6 in there. The sandbed isn't looking white and cleaned up. B

Nano pics update (12.19.04) *nice pics*

Re: whoa Chisel, xacto knife, thumbnail. Just try to keep it against the rock. Afterwards I'd put it in a small jar or cup in the aquarium with some sand/rubble at the bottom for it to adhere to. Once it's attached to that you can use superglue gel to stick that on another piece of rock...

Electric Blue Hermit Crab (dead or alive??)

Crabs molt. It's the same way that many bugs, all the shrimp, basically anything on planet earth that has an exoskeleton grows. What you found was the molt. I do from time to time throw empty shells in my tank to keep the crabs from pulling each other, and or snails out of their shells to...

Nano pics update (12.19.04) *nice pics*

You could probably try scraping it off the rock. Once you get it off though you'll need to let it attach to something else. Personally I'd just get a chisel and break the rock. That way it's not gonna blow around the tank until it manages to anchor itself again. B

    Tropical Fish & Pet Depot

I go to this store when I'm on that side of town. I've yet to buy anything from them. Although their prices are much better than Neptunes. Every time I'm in there the coral selection is very low, and not real healthy looking. The fish selection is much better than Neptunes, and I often see...

Phischy's Project PtIII: Actually have corals!

I agree with djConn. The corals you just put in will pull less calcium out than when your coraline starts taking off. If you just stocked a bunch of SPS you'd probably see a swing, but I seriously doubt you'll notice one with the stuff you just put in. Can't wait to see the new pics. B

Nano pics update (12.19.04) *nice pics*

Their sting isn't all that strong. It's the same as other bubbletips. Not nearly as strong as carpets, flowers, tubes. I've had two true percs that immediately dove into the RBTA. I've got a pair now, where the female hosts both the RBTA and the green BTA. The male hosts my goniopora. ...

Houston frag swap Saturday Dec. 18th

I put the final coat of paint on the 75's canopy, and just hung out with my Dad for awhile on Saturday since it was his B-day. I went over and got the canopy yesterday, and hit a few stores. Got home and had a friend help me get it on the tank. It's MUCH brighter. I'll take some pics...

That's your standard garden variety bristle worm. Congrats on finally getting some corals in the tank. You're certainly one of the most patient folks I've met. B

New Pictures of Nano Tank Deluxe...

You need to take some pics from the sides so we can see the aquascaping a bit more. Ok, ok....So I'm just trying to get you to show us more pics of a great tank. B

    Mechanical Filtration vs Nitrate

They've got one one in Dallas. I've always wanted to go, but haven't ever managed it. But I get my fix every year at ou Ren Fair. From what I understand it's the biggest fair in the county. I'm glad you had a good B-day. B

    Mechanical Filtration vs Nitrate

Hmm...It doesn't sound like anything I'm familiar with. What other corals are around it. Maybe it's getting stung or irritated by something. I had some hairy mushrooms that I had too high up in my 55 and they bleached out. Once I moved them to a lower spot in the tank they did much better...

    Flat Worms???

Yeah, it seems your's is pulling quite a bit of crud out. Have you tried running it for the same amount of time without blowing off detritus first to see what the difference is? I didn't really notice any difference in the corals or critters, but mine is cycling on my main system, so figure...

    Wanted to say hello :gh:

Welcome to the site. There are several people on here that have smaller than 5gal tanks, so yep it's certainly doable. I'm not suprised that your sandsifting star is MIA. It's probably gone. There just isn't really enough life in a 20gal tank's sandbed to keep them alive for long. I would...
