That's a great tank. Nice pics. I saw a six-line and a blue damsel. Any other fish? Everything looked healthy and open. Good job. Ya gotta tell these folks what kinda lights, filtration, etc... you're running. Also, how old is the tank? B

Pico 1.5 future investment (pics inside)

That looks like a sweet little heater...I wonder why they don't make any of the small heaters adjustable? It seems like it wouldn't be that complicated. B

Do you have links to these versions. I don't think I've seen them. B

    help!

They both look like varieties of macro I've seen in people's fuges. The green one looks like caulerpa to me. I don't know what the red one is called. I'd try moving that rock over into the sandbed by itself until you move it into your sump. By all reports caulerpa is a very fast grower, and...

    Salifert results...

The test really isn't inaccurate. It seems that eveyones that reads high, reads consistently the same 50ppm high. So the test IS accurate, they just didn't update the chart/literature that went with the new test. You'd think it would be an easy fix, and that's why it's a bit dissapointing. B

    Skimmer Question

My boss has one of these on his 18g office tank. He has a small fuge that it sits in, but you could put the pump inside the aquarium. He was skeptical about the JEBO brand, but it's done really, really well. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 37450&rd=1 Here's one that's a bit...

    Salifert results...

Ahhh, yes. I'd forgotten about that. MANY people have reported that the new Salifert calcium test kits are reading about 50ppm too high. Either way you should be fine at the level you're at. Take a sample of water in the next time you go to the LFS, and have them check it. If it tests lower...

    Cleaner shrimp...

Ok, so no extremes in temp change. The other inverts being alive and well rule out possible copper contamination in your tank. AP tests are generally ok, although I've heard about them being less accurate if they're old. Since you don't have any control over how long they sat on a shelf...

I wouldn't be concerned about your calcium being that high. I would check the ph, to make sure it's good. As long as it's about right your calcium being that high isn't gonna hurt anything, and is likely to help your coraline algae growth, as well as your LPS growth. B

    Cleaner shrimp...

I'd take a sample of your water in to a store you trust for testing as well. Even if you had the shrimp on a very fast dripline it should be able to acclimate to your water if everything is ok. Your nitrates are a little high, but not out of the ballpark by any means. Do you have other...

    hi new here....

Sorry but the inches-of-fish-per-gallon rule is kind of like the watts-of-light-per-gallon rule. It's a very crude rule that is basically useless. Adding fish to ANY aqarium is way more complicated than that. The kinds of fish, other tank inhabitants, the filtration, schedule for water...

    Chemi-pure...

I haven't run carbon on my nanos. I run small amounts of it all the time in the large system. I've never seen chemi-pure, so I've got no input on this one. Sorry. B

Phischy's Project PtIII: Actually have corals!

The next time you do a water change just suck up the detritus from the sump. It helps to keep things clean, and less possible wear on your pump. B

They are competitors, however they're also in the same part of town. All the store owners in that part of town know what's going on with the other stores. B

    Skimmer Question

Unfortunately seaclones are pretty much crap. Do some searches on RC. You'll find some things that you can do to improve it's performance. Personally I'd take it off, clean it up real good before it starts pulling anything nasty and take it back, and get a prism, or prism pro, these aren't...

    Argh!! My poor green Ricordia!!

I don't know. I've had some come back from quite a bit of damage, and some that seemed fine one day, and the next shrank down to 1/10 their size, and then just disappeared. All you can do is try. B

Aquatic Center is going out of business

Nope, AC closed on x-mas eve. At least that was Kenny's plan. I'd give the number a call just to see if he has anything left. If no answer I'd try pm'ing him on Marsh. He might still be checking the board. It's certainly possible that he still has some stuff left. B

    Argh!! My poor green Ricordia!!

Sorry, I missed this thread til now. I agree with everyone else that the crab was probably just a decorator crab. These guys aren't too harmful in a large reef tank. They will harvest sponges, and soft corals, but generally they take small bits off of many different pieces, so it doesn't do...

    should I lower my temp?

There's nothing really wrong with 82, but it is kind of on the high-end of the recommended temp for reef tanks. If you can bring it back to 80 or so by turning your heater down I would. If it's gonna be more complicated than that to get your temp down, I'd just take the snails back and get...

Re: whoah It's not so much that they have two color varieties, but that the juvenile and adult coloration are different. http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/msub28 ... agonwr.htm They're really not good choices for anything except the largest aquariums, and aren't really reef-safe, cause...
