    My new Crocea

if it has a feather it is a calcarious worm, if you see little strings or webbing it is a vermitted snail. either way it the clam is opening i doubt it is an issue. if it is irritating the clam removal should be no problem - just don't hurt the clam doing it

    best skimmer for a 20long with 10sump?

i don't know anything about the nano but it would likely be big enough, and i think that since the only real dif between the two is height you may have to get the nano cause i don't think a remora will hang on a 10 gal tank - too tall i have the reg remora and its not too bad as far as noise

    zoas

i would not say i recommend it over lugols as i use two dips; one is a mixure of tmpcc (basically lugols) and fwe - i have been using this for years and doubt i would add a coral to my tank without it, but now, i use the revive dip after that dip as a secondary. i do feel that it is very...

Questions to ask LFS about their live rock?

buying live rock is the most important part of the reef process as it will be your reefscape and your biological filter. the region the rock comes from will play into its shape and density - some areas have very dense rock and others have very porous. some regions like tonga are famous for...

    hmmm.... aiptasia or worm?

ie - a strong kalkwasser mix :) boiling hot water works too but.... jay i myself would take the rock out and use a tooth brush and simply scrub the little bugger out of there rinse in some salt water - problem solved, no chemicals my favorite problem solver is an old tooth brush and a bucket...

What is the best nano tank?

these in the 12 gal version are 130$ http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/P ... 2004+62760 i have a couple of these and like them but as far as plug and plays go they all have their own attributes/problems but are still nice little systems. and although i like the look of all of the...

    Blue tub zoas.

hmmm i have been a bit busy so i went back and read your pico thread before commenting. true tubs blues are usually very expensive as you are paying for the lineage and the name - ie they are the blue in many peoples eyes and therfore are willing to pay for them - generally 10 - 15$ per polyp...

Low iron glass...worth the difference on smaller tanks?

i agree if i wanted to build my own sweet tank i would def check into a piece of starfire for the front panel just for fun, but otherwise i would say no. do it right and spend your money on high quality lighting components, flow, skimmer, rock, and corals and it will still be awesome looking...

    my 125

nothing special, i have a 130W PC fixture (rebuilt from an old fixture actually) and a HOB with a glued in overflow box. i was running a remora on it but moved that to the zoa nano for now hex tanks are very hard to light and smaller ones are even worse. PC's are about your only option here and...

    my 125

from the time i set up till may '04 this tank was a standard mixed garden reef with just a random collection of corals. then i bought my first SPS and have slowly been working my way across the tank replacing all the inhabitants. it is now basically finished - just growing out. i'll be posting...

    zoas

this is one of those mysteries in coral care that i think still doesn't have an answer. you will find many posts from others with this same thing. i have lost zoas before but ususally if they are not going to make it they start out bad and go worse and i blaim that on S+H or not acclimating to...

    Algae Blennies

if your talking the "algae blennie/sailfin blennie" definitly just one - watch at the pet store if they have two in tanks next to each other they will even try to fight through the glass! and as jesse said even though they are a smallish fish they really need a bigger tank, but you MAY be able...

    green hair algae plague

the massive die-off and lack of flow is likely the cause of your troubles. it shifted the balance out, adding tons of organics and killing off much of the rocks benificial bacteria due to lack of O2 - shifting it to an algae driven system. you could theoretically continue what your doing and...
