nice little frag tray start the GFO slowly a couple tablespoons at most and then build up, although i have never had trouble with it some have claimed system shock from adding too much too quickly - better to be safe

its got all the problems of other plug and play units but a really nice footprint and the lights, cooling, and flow are a bit better. the skimmer has yet to skim anything and the overflow/filtration is going to need some tweeking, but in general for someone who is new into reefing and just...

    trying to save this coral.

looks just fine to me - leathers/softies often tend to close up like that and then shed a layer - many new comers think that it looks like it is going to die but... i would say that if tank life is good it'll be out in no time - leathers can take a ton of abuse and generally do well, even in...

    Show and Tell, anyone?

yeah your right the "fiji" nano is not fiji anything anymore i just still have the habit of calling it that. when i first built that tank it was an SPS nano. i was trying to mimic the reef shallows of fiji - now it is just another zoa tank with a few shrooms. it is lit with 3 2' VHO florescents...

    What exactly is this?

that isn't live rock per say although i guess it is all coral skeleton in some form but that looks like a skeleton of a long since dead elegence coral, euphid, or fox coral me - i would take it out scrub it off and throw it in the sump if it is unlighted or in a dif tank and let it sit in the...
